You can equip the same spells on either, but which will do more damage?
IE if you have a lvl 15 con and a 15 THM and you cast Banish as CON would it do the same as THM at 15 (with equivalent equipment). If you cast Fire, is it the same? What about shock and poison type spells? Do they stick better on one class than the other...
just curious since the stats are the same and the wand/scepter isnt that different.
Anyone with experience could shed some light?

cross-class skills have reduced effectiveness. And cross-class spells lose their aoe.

Thau spells will be more effective on a thau than a conj, it's pretty much common sense. Soloing from 1-10 both classes play very similar. After 10 Conj becomes a better healer than Thau, and Thau becomes a debuff machine and support class for the party. You'll probably have to lvl both since both jobs have spells that can be useful to the other.

They don't lose Aoe benefit, I use Aoe Stoneskin and Shock spikes on my thau all the time.

I haven't done much experimentation, though I know cross-class spells lose AOE, I thought cross-discipline skills lost effectiveness.

Yep. I also tested both Cure and Sacrifice on a Gladiator. Even with the regen effect included,
a Conjurer's cure is the better spell (more total HP healing and faster).

Yeah that seems to be it. AOE spells can be used within the magic classes. Not sure about the "war" skills though. Pretty sure you can't enter "steadfast" stance if you're not a MRD?

It works like this -

Magic skills used on a magic class will be AOE, regardless of being a Thau or Conj, however it does lose effectiveness if. If you use a magic skill on a war class, the skill can't be used as an aoe and again loses effectiveness. The same is made in reverse, a War class AOE, won't be an AOE when using it on a mage class.

AOE doesn't happen automatically, when you use a spell and it tells you who to use it on, press z and 'Area of Effect' will light up.

technically no but they work as if they do.

When I was leveling LNC for ferocity I was using skull sunder and after I accidentally aoe'd extra mobs I tested it. As it turns out if you stand still for long enough that would would have entered steadfast, it turns cone aoe as if you did. There is no warning or buff for this so it can be hard to tell and I honestly am not sure if its a bug or not.

I doubt this is working as intended. None the less, great information. Thanks for that.
