How often do you repair your gears?Follow

I posted this up on the Pugilist forum but no one's replied. How often do you guys repair your weapons or armor?

I found it strange that I've been having to repair my weapons very often as of late. From 1-5 I repaired once, then again when I hit 7, then again later at 7, then again when I hit 8. I've talked to a friend in game and he only had to repair his hora once between 1-10.

I've been having the NPC repair them to 75% and then after a couple of battles they're down to 47-48% again. I've been quite aggressive with my Concussive Blows and my toggling between light strike and heavy strike, and using Haymaker when possible, but it shouldn't decrease that quickly. Anyone else experience this?

In addition my rank is higher than my physical level. I'm a rank 8 pugilist, level 7. I found that odd that I would have a rank higher than my level. This it the only class that I'm focused on atm and was planning to change after I get to rank 10.

Depends really. If I can repair it myself I normally don't let it go into a damaged state. If I can't personally repair it I do so as soon as it becomes damaged.

the low level gear need repairing a lot. What i have been doing is getting gear i can repair myself. I also have gear for leves, gear i can't repair but is better. I just use this for the hard leves untill i get crafting high enough to repair it myself.

It you get a Goldsmith tool you can repair your PGL weapon with a bone chip at lvl 1 GLDsmith.

Weathered hora require repairs often. Your gears take more damage under leve quests too it seems, especially if KO'ed.

I have leveled leather crafting and have equipped my self with all 13-17 optimal rank gear. The durability increase is substantial. I haven't had to make a repair in 2+ days and when I do its extremely cheap for me to do so anyways. My suggestion to everyone is to wear gear your own craft can make. Having the NPC repair these items past level 10 is extremely expensive. Your alternative is to travel to the guilds of people who can repair your gear and ask around.

Btw: Just put damaged stuff in your bazaar with "reapair request" and stand next to the
emergency repair guy (where all the crafters tend to gather). I had my gear fixed by one
of those crafters in less than 3 minutes (after I came back from the toilet).

They are eager to do repair work, because for them it's easy money and skillups.

I got happy when I saw a bazaar seeking 3 repairs I could do with good rewards offered today. As I knelt down to repair the 1st item he runs away! I also had LS business nearby so I let it go, otherwise I would've chased him down!

I've opted to hold off on wearing some equipment because I just can't repair it. I have a cotton coif that costs to much to continually repair so I just ended up put it up in a bazaar for sale. Now only if jewelry was easy to repair... By the way, anyone got the specs on what it takes to repair stuff like copper or bone and where to get the supplies? I've tried mining but never found any bone chips... Also what might be a good amount or item to offer for the repairs? I've got my asuran armbands and herme's shoes I'd just love to get fixed...

There are a few places where if left on my own i can grind a rank or two in a couple hours(from 10 to 15.) in that time I usually get "heavily damaged" on my dagger twice, and on my shield once. I can repair my dagger myself but the shield requires bronze plate... and being armorer rank 8 I blow those up after about 5 actions.

Usually i stay until my shield is breaking then run off and get it fixed and do something else for a bit.

but my dagger durability is just sad... It's very frustrating that it can't survive an hour of playing.

I usually let my jewelry go the longest, it's annoying...but annoying to repair as well. Bone chips are everywhere so you should be able to stock up on them for a cheap amount. Even from NPCs I think they're cheap. I just let the NPC repair person do my armguards to 75% for 60 or so gil.

As for offering amounts, it helps to have an idea of what the repair items cost. I'm eager for a freebie skillup, but I've seen people seeking repairs on maple wands, which takes growth formula alpha, and they offer 50g or somethin'... I pass those up...

With starter gear, I was repairing fairly often just to get rid of the yellow icon. Now that I've upgraded a few pieces and intend to do the repairs myself, nothing really gets touched until the icon goes red.

Edit, because this place is making me peevish: It's not gears. Gear only gets an 's' for plural when you're talking about the circles with teeth like you see in a clock or a machine. When it comes to various pieces of equipment, it's just gear. "How often do you repair your gear?" Not the end of the world, just sayin.

Are you saying the more you repair you equipment, the higher the price will be? Sorry, I haven't got down to repairing my armor yet so this info will be a lot helpful for me (and I'm sure everyone else).

No, the price is based off of the durability when you go to repair. The NPC will not be able to repair to 100% like a crafter would and you will just go up to 75% after an NPC repair.

I repair every time i stop by town.

In grinding mode i never repair until i gain at least a level. everything will get low including my staff but my main craft is wood working so i just repair it myself without having to go to town.

That's why I leveled carpentry a bit. I wanted to make my own weapons for Conjury but my level just isn't high enough. But it is high enough to where I can successfully repair a maple wand.

Thank you for correcting my grammar. This internet thing is starting to make me grammatically challenged so I apologize. Yes in this context it would just be "gear" as it denotes all of the gear that I am wearing. Thus "gear" in this context is already plural and does not need an "s."

I wonder if the amount of wear has any correlation to how aggressive you use your special abilities? Technically it would make sense, but it would suck. Eh I'll just tough it out till I get to level 10. Also with regards to Bone Hora versus Weathered Hora has anyone notice a difference in the wear at all? Perhaps the wear on Weathered Gear is just horrible as opposed to other level 1 gear?
