Hey all,

Use a Samsung 42" LCD for my monitor - this TV only is a 60Hz TV.. when playing FFXIV it says it is running at 75hz, and when playing the screen will "refresh" occasionally - assuming because the refresh rate is too high. Anyhow, wondering if anyone knew how I can force XIV to only do 60Hz?

Thanks!

find the v-sync setting. Turn it on. V-sync forces the game to max out at same fps as your screen refreshes.

The setting as in Catalyst? Or somewhere in the FFXIV settings?

Both? I am pretty sure I have seen that option in both the config menu in XIV and the catalyst control center.

Are you running it full screen? And at what resolution? are you using HDMI/DVI or are you using analog VGA?

Many HDTV's will accept "PC" resolutions at up to 75hz, e.g. 1280x1024 (though they aren't actually displaying 70hz)

Make sure the game is set to either 1280x720 or 1920x1080 and then make sure that the default refresh rate for those resolutions is 60hz.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

He's talking about the refresh rate of the video signal not fps. The two are related, but different. Some 60hz HDTVs will accept a signal with a higher refresh rate than what they are capable of displaying and then convert it down 60hz.

Usually they will only allow this with PC resolutions such as 1024x768 or 1280x1024. If you try to to send 1280x720 or 1920x1080 at anything other than the standard HDTV refresh rates most HDTV's will say "cannot find signal" or "invalid signal" or whatever.
