Posted this in another thread, but now that I think about it, I could maybe use some help.

As a 16-17 THM the best way to get XP as of last night was for me to solo grind. Favor from Leve's was not giving me a increase anymore on non leve mobs, and I found it a waste of time to go to the camp to start the leve. So I grind on blue rated mobs all day, because SE was smart and did not place many green rated mobs, as I would level faster and play less. So far I am getting the feeling this game was designed around it being a time sink, and not me having fun.

Did they change the way favor works yesterday? I am lucky to get 180 from a single mob. If I were to do a rough average in my head I would say maybe..70 points a mob That could be much less as sometimes I will get 2-3 mobs in a row with no XP. I am not seeing a change really when fighting different mobs. Sometimes Marmots give me 180, sometimes nothing. I am finding it to be very random, and not have any relation with mob toughness.

Do you think what could be throwing me off is that some of the mobs are not rated correctly? I know this is true for leve mobs, but I am seeing this also true sometimes on mobs I grind.

Its time for you to duo.

Goto a crystal and shout for a duo partner. Head to the closest Orage/Red mobs and wack/cast at em.
Solo around the late teens and early 20s is where I believe it will taper off. I am 15 Con and was use to soloing I actually lvled up carpentry just so I could make myself a shield cause i was so squishy.

But lately Ive been partying with 1 other person (usually melee) and the SP/XP is much faster, i die alot less, flee alot less. Also remember killing 10 mobs for 70 SP each in 5 min is much better SP(700 in 5) than killing 4 mobs for 125 SP in 10 min(500 in 10).

Yea I been farming the weaker mobs as there is less down time. I will do what I can after my dentist appointment to try and find a partner in crime. Every day I have been looking for people to do leve's with, and no luck. With or without the translator. We need chat channels :(

With ARC 12 PHYS 20 I no longer get skill up on blue mobs but solo yellow and orange. Get about 500 skill per kill with little downtime. Even less when I duo with LS RL buddy they drop to green/blue rating and still give 500. From what I've seen PHYS also affects mob rating.

I have a duo partner and we look around and find the best mob we can comfortably kill and get decent SP but the random gains REALLY need work. After retainer system, this is my next biggest complaint about XIV I don't like my main progression based on luck.

Try find Yellow or Orange mobs if your soloing i can get a ton of SP on them, depending on the enemy you may or may not get downtime. Reds are possible if its an enemy your class can handle and they ave dodge-able specials (not monkeys >.>)

I'd kill for 180 sp per grind and a 70 sp average. At level 10, my conj/therm is lucky to get 40 sp per blue/green mob kill. Often I get nothing at all or less than 20.

This times 10,000. It actually sucks the fun out of the game for me, and I'm a grinder. I love grinding. My favorite MMOs are the ones where you are expected to just sit back and grind out the levels till your heart is content. FFXIV doesn't seem to have that for me because the rewards (and you need that tiny bit of reward with each kill to keep you going) aren't there in a steady enough trickle to keep me motivated.

I actually haven't logged in in three days because of this, and it's making me very sad. :(

Ive noticed that in this game, Yellow mobs are rather easy, and orange ones are fine if you know what you are doing, especially if they do more damage through specials than regular hits. I won't touch a blue/green mob unless it drops wind shards, or theres literally nothing else around.
