miss, miss, miss, evade, miss, HIT, miss, miss, HIT.

Ok, I'm trying really hard to get into this game, but the more i go along the more it annoys me.
The simple battle system, you can bearly hit mobs any more.
As soon as you weapon hits roughly 60-70% condition, that's it, ur mob now takes you 2x longer to kill and 2x longer after battle (for HP regen)
Now this would be ok if you could port back to your hometown, or city what ever and quickly repair, but you dont cause you have no anima. Or you can simply run ALL the way back, which takes you 13 mns there and 13 mns back (buying/repairing time) included. Let's not talk about the 1 anima per 8 hrs regen.
Hey i got an idea, we can repair our own weapons! Actually, no you can't as its impossible or takes 1-2 hours to find one material necessary, because of the frustrating UI system.
I understand the hole time sink of it...But you cant achieve half a rank (from rank 12 onwards) without having to head back to a city to repair your weapon.

Once again im trying to get into the game, but no matter what i do for XP, the lack of some sort of buying/selling server shop is strongly lacking for many reasons. The fact you cant port makes it worse.

Time sinks, im all FOR, but some areas are simply too strong.

This all leads to the difficulty to gain experience. The lack of quests...OR simply none. OH yeah the levequests...Half a douzen every 36 hrs which is done in 1 hour.
**** let's do crafting then. Windhsards, you need them for armorsmithing. Compared to the rest of shards ive seen people seeking to buy them for 300/piece! When all the other shards in the area are 80-120!
Ok well let's do some armorsmithing levequests..Oh wait you can't in this city, he doesnt give them out.

From the start of my post I have just spent maybe 2-3 hours to find out, grinding is extremly difficult. Crafting is also. Buying is even worse. Travelling is horrible. And the battle system is killing me.

I've read a fair bunch of posts about the moaning, and that other MMO's where way worse than this at launch. But did they pay this much for so much "emergency maintenance"? On top of what every is agreeing on what to disagree on?

I'm sure alot of these matters will be sorted. But by then, alot of gamers will be gone, thus killing the economy of the game, less budgets = less work = death of the game (long term).

I feel SE have gone heavily wrong with alot of things, and i may be wrong and would like to know if anyone can convince me, with there true love for FF14, reasons to stay.

nope its time for you to quit. why play a game that all you can list off is the bad things about?

I think people would rather play with people that know there are flaws in this game, but cope with them, rather than someone who goes onto the forum to just list them off and ******* about them

Hey there... Before I continue let me just state I'm not bashing/criticizing you in anyway...

I hear you on the missing/evading parts... This gets on my nerves a bit but at the same time one way to alleviate this is by dedicating more points into the DEX category. In regards to your weapons losing durability and there for not being as effective I was wondering if it was just me that noticed that.

We have 80 inventory slots. I carry tools with me when I head out to XP. I have my goldsmith tool to fix my accessories, smith tool for my weapon, a needle to fix my clothes, and I carry a pickaxe and sledgehammer to mine and get materials to fix my gear while on the go. I've leveled up my crafting enough that so far I can create and repair my gear while I'm away from town. I recommend you do the same it is a time saver.

I hear anima now recovers at the rate of 1 per 4 hours. Anyone able to second this?

The lack of quests is something that has irked me. However given the amount of quests in FFXI I'm sure this will only be temporary. The more I play this game the more I feel like I'm beta testing. I know some of you may say, I didn't buy the CE to beta test, if i wanted to beta test I would have gone OB. True, but once this game launches for everyone tomorrow, you will still have everything you've accomplished over the past week so it's not a complete waste of time.

I believe SE knows that for the most part, the hardcore players are the ones to join the betas. Casual players are already strapped for time. I don't believe that they would want to dedicate time to the beta especially given none of their accomplishments would carry over. This is probably the best way for SE to get feedback from everyone prior to the game being launched tomorrow.

Will affect game subscriptions... Yes... will it kill the game... absolutely not... Rome wasn't built in a day... I played on launch for WoW and SWG. They were far from perfect. This is exactly why I'm giving SE until PS3 launch date to fix the problems. PS3 launch is when most of my friends will be joining the game. If it's not good by then I'm recommending they don't purchase the game and we find a different game to play. Like perhaps the new Star Wars MMO.

Completely agree on this point.

Your post is completely non constructive, im simply pointing out bits and bobs that make me feel im paying for beta. When we compare to games that came out after BETA recently are AION/WARHAMMER. These games where well rpepared once beta out whereas FF14 isn't even close. Each area you look at into and must spend time on it, there are huge flaws.
I'm simply looking for some encouragement (that the 3rd poster posted) To keep me going. I'm glad people admit there is huge flaws but will give till march until they resolved. It's good to know your not alone.

I am ALL for holding on and giving chances.

wow.... such a negative outlook on everything.

If I miss a monster too much I don't go "I HATE THIS GAME IT SUCKS" I think "oh ,time to put some points into dex" and gets on with it.

If I don't have any wind shards I dont go "OMG THIS GAME IS STUPID" , instead I try to get some friggin wind shards!

Dude read the freaking post, they are just 1-2 things that are "wrong" that lead to pletny of other problems.

And you childish remarques "OMG", "SUCKS", is immature and non constructive words, i explainned whats wrong trying to give constructive feedback all though negative.
If you love the game, by all means give me some pointers i have missed out on?
Obviously you palyed beta and know somethings there later on, let us in :)

I've been getting my Wind Shards and Crystals by killing Dodo... They've been dropping lightning shards as well.

Unfortunately dodo's are a bit hard even at level 13.... Not sure if there are lower level mobs that drop em

I only commented on those because the other things you complained about are going to be fixed by SE in the next couple of months... for example an update to the retainer system is coming in 1-2 weeks (their words not mine). my "childish remarks"; "OMG" "SUCKS" is what all the whine sounds like when my brain filters out the worthwhile stuff to read. It wasn't directed at you.

about dodos: I just killed a couple red (incredibly tough) ones outside of ul'dah on my rank 8 lvl 9 conjurer :D stoneskin + shockspikes + dodging the puke move while healing and casting spirit dart. was some exciting fights!

it just annoys me that you go onto this forum to complain when many of the things you listed can be solved in game. An example is you not being able to hit anything. From what ive heard in these forums, either put your dex up because it's too low or ur weapon might be the problem.

I didnt mean to thrash out that much, but when you get onto these forums, all you are seeing about this game now is how much it sucks and blah blah blah. If one person doesnt like the game, then they should quit and move onto an mmorpg that they actually like.

The OP obviously never played FFXI.

ok a show of hands, who think you can hit without missing a lot as a melee job in FFXI without ACC items?

come on now.

Trust me, if you ever play FFXI, everyone is stack with acc.

You didn't do research, there are copper rings arouns which give acc +2 x2 or x4 slots from NPC alone.

Also Amina wise, do a better job manage it. 1 week passed and guess what my Anima is @? still 84 Anima.

Learn to only use them for city transfer, yes you have to freaking run back home everytime, but that is pretty much every MMORPG. Please don't tell me you can instantly fly that gryphon in WOW to ironforge.

The OP is an idiot. Some area too strong? You want to grind 1 million marmot to reach 50? please go ahead, i am not.

There is no lack of quests, did you know the quests are random ? there is @least 5-8 different guildleve per city and per craft that is randomize. Your main quest does come @ every 10 level, what? you want every level ? You should go buy FF13, this isn't a console RPG.

Shards wise, i do agree it is bad, but why? because everyone is crafting that is why! FFXI, everyone sell their crystal because no one craft. Just give it some time to filter the crafter who will give up around 10+ and those who fight.

FFXIV is pretty much exactly like FFXI, so sure go ahead and quit who cares about you. Some of us are having fun.
