I just got absolutely destroyed in the dodo guildleve at camp drybone. It's a level 10 leve. I'm level 12. I have no problems easily beating the other level 10 leves, yet I wasn't even able to get ONE dodo down to half health. My gear is in fine shape, my armor is decent...just....WTF.

Also, how many skillpoints are you guys getting from leves? I just did three level 10 guildleves and got 1000 SP total from all of them. That doesn't seem like enough. Half of the mobs didn't give me any SP at all. What the heck is going on?

Dodo's are considerably more harder than the other available Guildleve's. Just how it rolls, now you know. The fact that you got face rolled by 1 star Dodo's though, means it's probally time to upgrade them lv1 weapons.

I have a rank 9 dagger, and several pieces of rank 12/13 armor. I don't see how I should be having any problems.

The dodo one at drybone has always been like this i afraid - even at 12 for some classes you still need to duo on 1 star. They dod's are very tough in most leves that ive played with them in.

Regarding skillpoints I seem to be getting very few unless the leve is very tough and on those that it isnt I seem to only get skill points on the last mobs of the leve.

Another thing to increase your points is to put guardians aspect on - this has sometimes helped me get quite a lot more.

Dodo's are just mean.

They seem to sleep right when you start to initate manuevers.
But they like to build up max TP, and then just sit there and spam slow, blind, sleep.

I just took this leve. I was a little nervous because I knew dodos were supposed to be tough. Now I'm a *lot* nervous.

Leves in general were intended to be a part of the party mechanic in XIV. Their point was to relieve standing in one spot for hours fighting the same mob. Trouble is the early bronze leves are as easy as they are so players can easily learn the system. Revenge of the Dodos is the first silver leve a lot of players come across, thus the need for a tactic catches us off guard.

My suggestion is to grab a friend or two. When someone claims one, someone else should grab it's mate then they should be pulled in opposite directions. I've noticed they are significantly weaker when apart from each other -- for one, their atk and def seem lower. Rinse and repeat for the remaining birds. The last bird will flee and the mobs it spawns will hunt down and kill whomever had highest hate on the mob that died before it.

Rule of thumb my group has learned...

If the leve has dodos in it and you normally do other leves as 3-4star... do the dodo one as a 2.
Always solo dodos as 1 star if u are under the given leve lvl.

My conjurer uses the stone skin thing, spikes, and spams aoes with the occasional heal. The dodo leve I did had 2 dodos at a time (I picked the 2 star to solo) so was quite a challenge as they both nuke on the pull.

HA HA….it’s nice to know others had problems with that leve also….. i had the same problem last night. The dodos drop-kicked me in the head then ~boom~ i was dead. I think I even heard one of them laughing at me. I just logged out and went to bed after that humiliation.

When you are locked onto a Dodo, move around to the back to avoid the sleep breath attack. Also works to avoid Backflip on Marmots if you are quick enough. (BTW, you can run out of the range of Moles' underground attacks.)

What class are you? You may want to level Maruader and add Trunkspltter, Brandish and Bloodbath to your ********

Get up to 2000+ TP, hit Bloodbath, then use Brandish > Trunksplitter. You will do around 200 damage and gain ~150 health from Bloodbath. This should turn the tide.

One of these usually misses, so it's best to not use Bloodbath at only 1000+ TP. If you miss your Trunksplitter (or equivalent), you will be stuck gaining HP from Bloodbath equal to a fraction of a normal attack.

Do you have Second Wind equipped?

Dodos are challenging. I'm using a rank 11 Gladiator right now with the setup above (+Cure). Ending each Dodo fight at about 50% HP.

Just some suggestions for a battle plan that is working for me. Goodluck.

What is this talk of bronze and silver leves? I never noticed any color scheme. If this is the case, there will probably be gold leves later...

Next time you're selecting leves check the frame around the stained glass picture. So far there's bronze and silver. The later being significantly harder.

As a conjurer, i rocked the dodos easily.

But only if they aren't on GPS mode. If they stand together, i can blow them out in say 4 AOE spells or usually 1 dead and i can solo the other.

If they are on GPS mode, they chase me and separate even if i ran across the map.

Conjurer have this game on easy mode if you know what you doing really.

did i mention, i was level 7 conjurer physical level 12?
