Can't log in to square enix or the gameFollow

I've bought the normal edition a few days ago, and registered a square enix account, which I could log in fine. When I've installed and completed the patch for the game through the game DVD, I tried to log in. The screen just refreshed and doesn't tell me anything else. I was thinking maybe because it wasn't officially launched yet, so I waited to try again today. The same thing happened, so I tried to reset my password for square enix. Now, when I key in my new password, both the game and square enix account site tells me that the password is wrong.

im having the exact same problem heres the steps ive done that so far have failed

I tried
updating my drivers
changed ports as specified by the customer service for ffxi when I called in
obviously hardbooted my modem first
I am running the game as admin
I tried switching in and out of windowed mode and ajusting my settings
lowered the settings to minimum still nothing
tried turning off cenimas thinking maybe im having trouble loading the main video
after all that reinstalled it last night still nothing

I am aware that there is a patch going on atm but I cant even get the maitanance warning when I try to log in. and it doesnt go black like so many posts ive seen. I click login and the screen basically refreshes itself locks up for about 5 seconds then im able to press login again and it does the same thing.

At the moment all servers are down I do believe ... for maintenance. They're supposed to be done by about 4 PM EDT. Once the servers come up, I don't know if this will fix your issue. It sounds familiar to me. I think I may have had that happen, but it stopped by itself. Did you restart your computer?

Well for one I wouldnt be trying to do anything while maintnance is going on, cause who knows that could be your problem. 2.) do any of you that are having the problem have a one time password gadget linked to your account from ffxi or ffxiv, if so you have to use it with your password.

Hmm. I checked out the link that someone posted earlier. Someone mentioned beta and it reminded me that they said if you were in the beta and had the beta client on your system, you would need to uninstall it FIRST before installing the retail version. These are the steps I followed when I was getting my system ready for the retail:

1) Beta key automatically expires and no longer shows up in your account services, no action needed.
2) Uninstall the Beta Client, your settings in My Documents are not removed.
3) Install the Retail Client, and your settings in the folder in My Documents will be used.
4) Add a new service in the Square Enix Account Manager and input your FFXIV retail key.
5) (Optional) Add additional services and input your keys for any of the bonus items you have received.*
6) (Optional) Navigate to the "One-Time Password" section under "Services & Options" and setup your Security Token.
7) Add a payment method in the "Payment & Service Fees" section of the Square Enix Account Manager.*
8) Run the client and login to download updates and patch.
9) Create your character and start playing!

This worked for me. I don't know if it will help you or not, but I thought I would try.
