I wasnt able to run the benchmark because of some error. Anyways can somebody tell me how well my laptop can run the game and what setting I will need to play on.

It's an Alienware M15x
*Intel Core i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache)
*6GB Memory (1x 2GB, 1x 4GB DDR3)
*15.6-inch Wide FHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
*1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5850

Thanks for aqny help you can offer me.

Labtop:

A word that inexperienced college freshmen (most often girls) call their new laptops.

A common misspelling for laptop, generally made by young people.

What wannabe thugs and other ghetto people call laptops. Also used by ignorant white people. When one says labtop, the "a" is usually excessively stressed.

I'm pretty sure it will run. Only thing I can say is: I run it on an inferior machine: Intel Core i3 330M - 2,26GHz - 3MB, RAM: 4GB DDR3, ATi Mobility Radeon HD5165 1024MB GDDR3. I play on Medium settings (Multisampling x4), and it just runs fine. I guess you can turn your settings quite higher.

It's weird that you can't run the Benchmark though. That worked fine on my budget lappy as well.

Do what I did...and it sucks...but...save everything you have...and then reformat

I run dual crossfires, 6gb ram, i7 yaddi yaddi too, but couldn't get benchmark to work. I couldn't even update Catalyst; each time I did, kept saying 'Windows detected it did not install correctly'.

So I saved everything important (though when you reformat, it creates a windows.old file with all your old files), and reformatted. Downloaded updates, put on antivirus, and got the latest catalyst/directx drivers and benchmark ran smooth and flawlessly.

If you're willing to spend $1850+ on a laptop, get this instead. Bigger screen, better GPU, slightly slower processor, but a much better pricetag. In case you hadn't realized yet, Alienware is severely overpriced for what you actually get. That's uniform across desktops and laptops.

I have the ASUS laptop and I love it. It performs admirably for a laptop at 1080p in FFXIV (30 fps under load, better in less crowded areas). Particularly at higher resolutions, the GPU is going to take over as the most important component, so that's why I'd recommend the mobility 5870 (alienware doesn't offer it on the m15x). It's significantly more powerful than the mobility 5850. The gap between the 720qm and the 740qm isn't remotely as large, and that's even less pronounced at higher resolutions.
