yet even more update problems...Follow

I posted earlier that I was having problems downloading the patch. Well now it just took a turn for the worse. I get home to look at the update. It appears it is finished. I try to click on ff14 to launch. The version update window pops up, tries to check the version, "downloads" the data, and then closes. I can't seem to launch the game. I'm wondering if some files might have gotten corrupted?

Are you being blocked by your firewall? is it running in admin mode?

Is it possible that there is a glitch with the ongoing maintenance?

All good points. Ill try disabling the firewall. Im running windows 7, so I shouldnt have to run as admin, but Ill look at that too. Its possible it has something to do with the maintenance. Going to try the tried and true restart your computer thing first.

Rajieno, it's actually more important on windows 7 that you run as admin (right click and run as admin). It's set that way to protect your computer...so if its still not working, try that.

I got it working :) well sorta. To say the game plays sluggish would be a massive understatement. Im going to try a few things and see if I can fenangle with the resolution or something. Probably a waste of time, but you never know.

I just installed the game on Thursday so I have to get all the previous updates first, but whenever I try to start it up, it tells me that there is an error. It says "11000: update failed" or "11019: File access failed". This is really ticking me off. I have no clue what to do. Running as administrator doesn't help. When it doesn't give me an error message, it just freezes, and tells me that both upload and download speed are zero, when the wi-fi is perfectly fine. I'm getting really frustrated...any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've not actually seen a fix for this problem. Your file access error makes me think that your profile isn't allowed to do things like read and write where the file is located. You might want to check into your permissions and see if that is the case. If that is it it is a simple fix as long as you can make those changes without some other admin.

When the pop up box appears and you start downloading - look at the date. If you're downloading the older patch and it doesn't register in your game, then you've got some problems with your files. Perhaps it couldn't write the files because of administrator problem.

All right, I got it the download finished, but now when I log in and click "play", it just automatically says "FFXIV has stopped working" and that a "problem" of unspecified origins is responsible. I'm running as administrator, my firewall is off, my virus software's off...What the **** is going on? Does someone have it in for me or something?

You'll need to post your crash report from the event viewer for help with this. if you want to skip a step u can search the fault module file in these forums otherwise I'll try to catch what you post and if it's one of the common probs I'll post you a link to the case where it is solved.
