Does anyone know how to run two instances of FFXIV? I am not trying to duo-box, just trying to log into my friends account and trade stuff.

On the same computer? I don't have extensive knowledge with it, but I don't think you can.

I can't imagine what my computer would do with two instances of FFXIV open anyway. Puke, probably.

Maybe try one of the windower programs or at least ask on a forum dedicated to those? That's how it was done on FFXI anyway.

You could probably use a Virtual Manager program. Seems a bit overkill tho.

The only way to do it would be to have remote access to his computer.

A VM wouldn't work; the game is too intensive for it.
