The folders you are loocking for are not under your normal FFXIV installation folder. Try to loock to C:/user/.....

well thats what happens when you download files from pirated torrent sites instead of through legit means. i understand your probably having trouble somewhere along the lines but i would wager your time would be better spent trying to fix whatever problem is preventing you from downloading directly from SE than risking downloading some virus infested hack job from any torrent site.

You want folder 48eca647.

Those foldernames you got were for the beta version, if I remember correctly.

if you tried to open the patch into the patch directory, it opens new folders within the patch folder... you have to back the patch data back to the original patch directory.

It's a PITA.

CORRECTION:

Documents -> My GAmes -> Final FAntasy XIV -> downloads -> FFXIV -> 48eca647 -> patch (this is where your data should go) -> FFXIV -> patch -> D2010.09.28.0000.patch ( this is where utorrent put the patch )

Btw, I'm just speaking from my experience... I did it once and never had to do it again therefore I don't have much practice.

Sorry bro. That's all I know.

Just set up the patcher and go to bed. It sucks, but there you have it.

your in the extreme minority here guy, most everybody else had no problems. kno what that means? the problem isnt in the patch updater. your machine/connection/location/or any other number of variables are causing you problems, but to try to blame se's updater which has worked perfectly for 99.9% of the people that used it is ridiculous.

I dont get it. You people complain about posters ''spamming about the patcher download speed''. Wouldn't that mean there are many players who are having trouble with the patcher? Also, there is a crap load of threads on the FFXIv CORE forums about slow patcher. There are also the amount of people who don't bother posting. So its not a minority.

right, since a decent number of people who have a problem post about it but 0 people whos install went smoothly do. just because theres a few threads about something doesnt mean its some widespread panic and EVERYONE is having a problem. if you really thing the MAJORITY of people had a problem with the patcher your just naive. the problem with this thread isnt the fact that your having problems, if you do theres always someone willing to attempt to help as evidence by Catrim's posts. the problem here is the insulting and derogatory manner in which help was requested. dont go somewhere and be a prick then expect someone to jump off a bridge to assist you.

i've had good luck with downloading the patch if i watch the patcher and cancel and restart if it stops downloading.
when it restarts it usually gets more of the file before stalling out again.

and whoever was hating on the use of torrents... u know the first files the patcher downloads are torrent files, then it uses those <poorly> to dl the actual patch file into a sub-folder somewhere in my documents.

Elamille How exactly am I being a 'prick''? I havn't insulted anyone, I am not spamming or using offensive language. You're the one being a prick by trying to ignore the fact that SE's updater is horrible, and telling me I'm the one with the problem. Then you also go on to say that ''its not a big problem''. I didnt say it was a world wide panic. It IS a problem tho, because ALOT of users are not able to patch 512 MB worth of files without waiting 9 hours. THAT IS A PROBLEM. Ive also got another friend whos having teh exact same prblem as me. IVe done evrything in the persons guide, and every guide on FFXIV CORE, still no success.

Seriously, if everyone has to play with the files, replace them with other files downloaded from a separate host, JUST to get the patcher to work, then there is a problem. This isn't a freaking beta game, this is a full retail game I just paid 50$ for.

Ive been playing mmos for a long time, I know a bad launch when I See one. If SE doesn't get their **** straight, they are gona lose ALOT of potential subscribers.

Does SE even have an official technical suport email and or official forum? Or do their lazy asses rely on players to do all that stuff for them?

Ive been at this crap for 4 hours, how the **** do you expect me to be? Happy? No. Im ******* done with this game. Im not gonna stick around.

And there are those of us who did everything suggested with port forwarding and still had extremely slow downloads even though I have fast internet speeds.

Frankly, I don't care what some of you say about how other games always need port forwarding; a lot of people will have no clue on how to do it and I don't think they should be expected to. Even with everything done correctly, I don't think I ever saw 1 remote connection.

It's a ****-poor method and a lot of us think so. There are better ways. ****, even the playonline downloads were better than this.
