The game ran fine until today (since the 22nd). I don't know what's up.

ATI 5870 card on an Athlon X6
My card temp seems to be settling under 80C
No overclocking.

Here's what it looks like.

I have a top-of-the-line PC running a GTX480, and I get horizontal tears here and there. Also sometimes get terrain bouncing while I'm running, like it's having a seizure or something.

I had a similar a few years back.
I took out my Graphics card and the fan was covered in dust. I cleaned it up and it worked fine.
to me it was the sign of my card dieing so I got a new.

I get the terrain bouncing as well (GTX 480). The first time it happened I thought a ram (or something else big and mean) was coming up behind me! OP have you tried updating your graphics drivers?

The technical support guy (who was well spoken), reckons if the card is dying, there would be other signs, such as decreased game performance.. of which there are none. Thus, it is more likely in the drivers or settings.

Plus, the card is brand new. I got the computer 10 days ago. I have not played final fantasy XIV for any extended periods of more than about 4 hours, and the card temp seems to max at 77C.

Trouble is, i simply woke up one morning as usual, turned on the computer, booted up the game, and the problem started. On the 30th, being standard release day. No problem from the 22nd to 29th.

Also, i've rolled back the drivers several times and updated em back to the current ones. No go. I've fiddled with lots of the settings in the CCC. No go. i haven't upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows XP though.

Maybe I'm not too familiar with FRAPS but why is it showing 999?

If you are in full screen, try using windowed.

Only the pros play at 999 fps.

I had a similar issue with my 260GTX.

i noticed if i changed the out game video setting
started the game
quit
put the setting back .

I had a issue similar to this about 4 days ago
after preforming a million things this worked the best.

Also make sure your crossfire / ati Card has fan on AUTO.
and if it is on auto what the speed Percentage is when its tearing.

(from another topic i made on this)

Quote:
has to go uninstall the drivers
log windows on safe mode
run driver sweeper
restart
log windows normally
install the drivers again
restart

This worked for me, and hopefully will help others too.
Funny, because i did uninstall and re-install drivers, but **** always gets left behind i guess. Driver sweeper ensured that when i re-booted windows in normal mode, it all looked ****-ugly. Then i re-installed CCC and it works fine.
