Stuck at "Now Loading..." on first login attemptFollow

While attempting to first hop on my very first character, I get stuck on the "Now Loading..." screen, the BGM changed from a FF theme to what sounds like a rocking boat with weather effects in the background, but I just get stuck on this screen, have had it running for a good hour now and it's still on this screen. I've got the latest drivers, and here's my specs if it's any use.

Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium
Intel Core i7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60GHz
6GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

All help is thanked.

I was able to get a Screenshot of what happens after I let it load for over an hour and then close the client (this is the 2nd occurence)

That's the 2nd time that happened and that only appears after I click the X on the top right and as the game is fading.

I had this happen to me as well last week.

In order to see the opening CS and start, I used the FFXIVConfig and turned the graphics options down to low settings.

Get to the loading screen when logging into the game and it just doesn't display any graphics.

I also have windows 7 with an ATI mobility radeon 4570 maybe its the graphics card is anyone else having this problem?

I found a forum about my particular model (Asus g73), and apparently they've all been able to play it, I just figured I don't have a good enough internet connection or modem to run FFXIV, I could look into it again though

The reason I figured it's my internet connection is every time I try to download the patches via the downloader, my modem chokes up and drops the internet connection, i'm not sure if it does it in-game because it clogs my internet so much I can't browse a web page to find out. I only get 3 mb/s

Happens to me, I just alt-tab out and I usually see an error prompt telling me that some directx error happened and I restart the game and it works again.
