Hello, first off i would like to say i'm sorry for being such a noob and not being able to work this out by myself, i am a big fan of FF11 and i'm trying to figure out if my laptop would be able to run this, I have tried the FF14 benchmark on my laptop and it crashes everytime i try and run it, i have read somewhere that the benchmark sometimes wont run on laptops but the game still will.

my laptop is a dell 5010

and the specs are

I'm runnig on Windows 7

processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M350@
2.27 GHz 2.26 GHz

Installed memory (RAM) : 3.00 GB (2.87 GB usable)

System type : 64-bit Operating System

I have had various other MMO games on my laptop such as ff14 and world of warcraft, but nothing as new as FF14,

Once again, sorry for being a nub, and thank you in advance for your replys :)

Does it have a video card? Shared or dedicated? How much video RAM? Do you know the video card model?

My general feeling is that FFXIV won't run well on pretty much any laptop at this stage, as the mobile video cards just aren't up to snuff right now. I'm no expert in the field though, so there could be some powerful mobile video cards out there, but I'm thinking if you paid $1,000 or less for your laptop, chances are it won't run it very well.

I have a dell as well that I bought a few months ago. The cpu is a step down from yours, but it has more memory and a dedicated video card with only 256MB of RAM. It does run the game, but it's very slow. If I didn't upgrade my desktop, I probably wouldn't stick with the game, because after a while, I'd just get tired of things being so slow and laggy.

Best thing you can do is download the benchmark, install and run it, and let us know what score you get. More detailed specs would help some of the more hardware savvy people here as well. Benchmark is here: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/

Cheers!

It looks like it has onboard graphic memory. I have had no experiance with onboard memory but it either wont run it or it will be unplayable because of lag due to the fact in general onboard graphics memory is alot slower than dedecated.

Who sold a non-gaming laptop to someone potentially interested in gaming?

That's just wrong.

I don't think the game will run very well on that. Not nearly enough video ram, and you will have trouble with overheating.

Integrated graphics will not run FFXIV (before, say, 2030). It's just not going to happen on that laptop.

I would download the benchmark, and self-asses your patience-level :)

If you are super psyched about this game, and can even run the benchmark then you can run the game.... it will just be very slow and you can forget about groups larger than 3 or 4 people. I manage fine playing on my laptop when I can't get ot my desktop, and it only scored a 600 on the benchmark. That being said, and as I said before, if that was all I had, I believe I would eventuially give up on the game, because of the slowness and the lag.

So, to repeat, if you are super gung ho about this game, and believe yourself to be a pretty patient person, it might just work for you. But either way, you should be looking to get/upgrade a desktop if you plan to play for the long haul.
