I would just like to say that I have had zero gil sellers in the official release of the game contact me. I know it is early, but I have seen other mmo's that I get spammed something right away. In open beta I saw people spamming gil for sale, but so far in the official release I have seen none, hope it continues and hope you are experiencing the same.

Once selling becomes more convenient, they'll start to pop up. The gil sellers are having the same trouble selling goods as we are right now.

It's not that, it's the degree the sellers have to go to, to be able to access an account. It's like algebra. As of now, you can't buy a code online to access the game with. You actually have to go to the store/online, and buy a physical copy of the game.

Edit: I for one am thankful of this at least!

Remember, IPs that are tracked to China get auto-banned when it comes to our version of the game. In addition, they then ban the MAC address of the machine itself to make it unable to even attempt connecting to the game ever again unless certain parts are changed, making it doubly expensive for the RMT in China to make a profit off the game without resorting to theft.

It's been said before that its only a matter of time until they show up and start spamming people, I say around Christmas time they'll have stolen enough accounts and computers to make it possible for them to disrupt our game.

Doubt it.. There are people in China who play this game legit, they don't get auto-banned.. Banning rules against RMT apply to everybody.

Proxy IPs to avoid proper tracing, in addition to using stolen credit cards and copies of the game either stolen or bought online. You can't use a Chinese billing address, nor a China-based billing method. They are getting their own servers that are for them alone, and those are the only servers SE wants them on.

A person cannot legitimately play the EU/NA/JP/Rest of the world game as a resident of China without being put on SE's "Special Task Force watch list". They would have to do things to conceal the fact that they are in China.

Also, our edit times are..skewed to say the least.

Actually, no, there aren't. SE terms of service is that you must play from the region you registered to, which in turn must be a region in which the game is sold. If you are not in Japan, US + Canada or Europe, you are not a legit player, although that doesn't mean that Square-Enix will be all that interested in busting you.

I live in China, and I will personally hunt down every gilseller i can, in my free time(non-working or gaming time), if SE/Chinese gov't will let me play on normal servers. I believe that will solve all the problems in the world.

They are too confused about the mechanics of the game to make any gil.

I've recieved two /tells already to buy gil. One when I was in the marketplace.. another hanging out in Limsa.
You have to realize gil sellers aren't only in China - while they are mostly located there, I remember a few companies/people set up shop in the States.

I saw a few gil sellers in the market wards last night. Their retainer name is advertising the gil buying website. They just had 1 fire shard for sale at max gil on the retainer. Saw 2 or 3 of these last night. Pretty bold. Can't imagine SE will let those be there very long.
