We would like to notify you of the current major issues as of Oct. 1, 2010.

[Current Issues]

- If an item name contains a "+ [number]" at the end (e.g. "+1," "+2," etc.), players are not able to equip the specified item through a macro command.

Currently, equipping items through macro commands works in the following manner:

Example 1) If you only possess the item "Dagger," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger" on your character.

Example 2) If you only possess the item "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger +1" on your character.

Example 3) If you possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will randomly choose and equip the item "Dagger" or "Dagger +1" on your character.

Example 4) If you possess the item "Dagger +1" (or possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1"), triggering the macro command "/equip main "Dagger +1" will not equip either of the items.

*If you input "Dagger +1" without the quotation marks, the system will recognize it as "Dagger."

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

Square is definitely on the ball with announcing issues they didn't talk about during the prelaunch party. A whole lot better than XI's earlier years.

I remember when I 1st picked up FFXI, plenty of word from SE and this was a few weeks after the ps2 launch in NA.. This is pretty standard.. What's really lackluster is that they forgot to mention the 100's of other issues we've all been complaining about, I'm pretty sure those should be known to them? The stupid "dagger +1" thing wasn't even known to me due to the fact that I refuse to spend 2 hours in the MW's looking for new gear.

I agree - this is kind of..... Lackluster compared to all the other issues that they aren't addressing.I wouldn't say that SE is doing a better job of announcing things. They are still ignoring the truly fundamental issues.

They don't tell us about all the issues in these posts. Doesn't mean they aren't working on them. That's all that matters. Not that they inform us about them, but that they fix them. The rest is just "cool, but not necessary".

For example if they told people about the party exp glitch people would be even more discouraged to group than they already are.

Doesn't mean they are, either. You have no way of knowing whether they are working on what the players see as the "Major Issues" or not, so your point is moot. A lot of this stuff didn't get fixed in Alpha, it didn't get fixed in Beta, it didn't get fixed in pre-release,and now release has come and gone with no change. Then, they release a statement of the "Major Issues as of Oct 1."

And the only issue they think is major is that you couldn't equip a +1 piece of equipment using a macro? Sure it's an issue, but there are lots of broken things that need addressing. Forgive me for not falling all over myself in awe at this announcement.

Yes, they at least should have worded it "Currently Known Issue. At least it would have made them sound a bit less oblivious.
And I'm so glad they are focusing on that issue, cuz you know, it's way more annoying than say..not being able to /tell or see who's talking in LS and Party chat...... /sarcasm off

On one hand people love to go with the most negative reasoning possible. As Torrance said, we don't know if they're working on it or not, however people will rather go with "they aren't working on it" just because they don't formally announce it or because of their weird wording. On the other hand it would be nice if they announce it but we know there's issues, they know there is, even Komoto said there's going to be a literal mountain of maintenance and patches after release to fix up pre-existing issues, so it's well known--when it will be fixed however is anyone's guess.

For example the +0/+1 macro issue started popping up on forums recently then they immediately announced it being an issue, so it does seem they are paying attention to the community but just from playing FFXIV it seems they put way too much reliance on the servers for even basic interaction that I don't think they want to start messing with it till major update time. It WOULD however be nice to know their update schedule.

Whether it matters or not SE did say during Alpha and Beta their major focus was getting the game stable which is why there's still even basic issues not fixed since the first public build. Though in my time playing MMORPGs it seems people are on SE's collective asses a lot harder than anyone else because every MMO I've played (and thats well over 20 in my life time lol) all launched pretty shoddily..some worse than others to the point they faded to nothing after a week. As much as people love to pin any "Just wait it out" or "It will get better" as a fanboy statement it really is the truth when it comes to MMORPGs, they take time to get refined--we as players and people just grew impatient as we got older.

My main point in the OP was it's nice to see SE is actually announcing issues a lot quicker than they used to, they probably gotten better the past few years but when I was still playing it took them quite awhile to announce any issues sans version updates "omg spaghetti code" issues.

Glad to hear them working on it.

Kinda odd to see that this is the only 'currently known issue' though, lol.

Funny, but also so true!

This is like when you call your landlord saying the apartment has termites, the roof is leaking, you have no hot water and heat, and he came over to fix the squeaky back door by spraying a few drop of WD40, which you don't even know it's there.

There's a difference between something not working as intended, and bad design.

Sure it needs a player search, faster menus, better bartering system, etc... but all of those things are currently working as designed and intended. The +1 thing is a glitch though.

I agree with this...but...why the heck would they intend for things to work the way they currently work?! I wish I could be in some of SE's design meetings. I swear there HAS to be someone making good suggestions...how can game developers not understand the simplest of concepts? Seems like they have one poor, sad, un-educated janitor working in his basement on the UI and everyone else is working on the graphics...PRIORITIES! PLEASE!

So I guess the randomly disappearing SP with party play isn't a bug, it must some sort of secret extension of fatigue.
