Not until they start charging players. You could have 8 characters right now and you wouldn't have to pay for them until your next month of billing when you start getting charged.
Back on the 29th they said they were working on getting multiple retainers going in addition to the market changes. But the way they worded it is rather loose.
"As a result, we are planning a number of revisions and additions to the system, the first of which are scheduled to be implemented in the next one to two weeks."
Then at the end of the update they say...
"Also, we are now taking steps to increase the number of retainers that a character is able to simultaneously employ."
Since they added the bit about retainers after
the part they estimated 1-2 weeks for the first market revision patch, they may not be planning on including the retainer fix in that patch. Which would mean we could be waiting longer than 2 weeks. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been out of room in my inventory and on retainer for about a week now.
Magnesium02 could be right in that they're holding this off until the first billing cycle, which would be a shame. This is one of the many basic things that should have been in right off the bat. Player storage and a fully functioning buy/sell system is a must.
