GuildLeves, am i doing it wrong?Follow

First off, this is not an angry post or rant, I enjoy the game, I just want to know if there is a more efficient way to go about xping that hasn't occurred to me.

I was reading an interview with the developer found here:

For those of you who don't feel like reading through it, here's the part that confused me:

DO: The system is focused on the idea that players can play the game comfortably even when they only have a short amount of time to play, and this revolves around guildleves. How do you think players will approach this after service starts?
PT: There were a lot of people in the beta tests who finished their guildleves alone, but we feel that’s kind of a waste. These were designed to encourage party play, since these guildleves help players level much faster than grinding on the surrounding monsters. Players can ask people for help with their guildleves, and then help other party members with guildleves they may currently be holding. We hope people will do this more often when retail service begins.

Now my experience with battlecraft leves is that they usually involve anywhere from 3-6 mobs and are usually over within 5-10 mins of arriving at the target site. Sure with the guardian's favor you get great exp, but only off a few mobs and then its over.

It sounds as if the developer's intend this to be a primary way to xp, this is great for the first few levels but then the xp tnl jumps way up and it barely dents the xp progress bar upon completion of all your daily leves.

thoughts? discoveries? experiences?

If you share your Leves you end up being able to do like 50 instead of 8 ^.~

I think the part after the bold text is what they really meant. They want us to group up and repeat the leves over and over again, helping each other.

Personally, I use the leves more for the rewards than the experience. I started online gaming with nothing but grind, I don't mind it so much as long as there's visible progress to be made. Only flaw for me...I find grinding much more fun if there's more to be found than just crafting materials (in other words, gear). Just saying though, I know it would kinda ruin the emphasis on crafting.

Am I right in saying that guardians favour gives you increased skill chance on any mob you fight during its duration, not just the target mobs? If so maybe try killing stuff en route as well.
In this life you are nothing without someone else to think so.

Grouping to do guildleves sound fine but don't think it's possible with the server lag at this point. Maybe if they clear it up.

I don't think so. I could be wrong, but I was getting 150-200 sp with guardian's favor up on leve mobs, and still only my 40-50 on non-leve mobs. But i know several people on my server that kill all but one of the leve targets then start grinding on stuff in the immediate maybe i'm just bugged, lol.

There's two big problems I have with leves:

1.) Regardless of difficulty, it seems mobs have the same low HP. They die fast but just hit harder. If you're in a group of 3+ people, you hardly get a chance to gain skill.

2.) You spend a great deal of time running around just to get enemies when you could be grinding enemies non-stop.

A third issue I have, which shouldn't be an issue for more experienced players (can't say that for PUGs), is that sometimes you'll die on leves due to unexpected difficulty. For example, 3 star imps on a lvl 20 leve AoEing everyone for 1000 damage. That just wastes time, but this can be avoided once you learn how difficult each leve is.

I'm halfway to level 18, and I've pretty much sworn off leves. I'll put them on one star and complete them fast so I can get my points and gil and then it's back to grinding for me.

Can you repeat leves? I've tried twice and it seems like if a party member has same levequests as you, we've been unable to initiate the same leve again. Something we are doing wrong?

If you share leves you can do a lot of them and even without guardian favor earn quite a lot of SPs. There are several problems you will need to overcome:
1. Finding people to share leves with. Search system is pretty bad and less and less people use it. It seems only useful for LS events (lets to join party without standing next to the leader).

2. Making sure people share and not link leves. By default leves are linked. If somebody in the party had a leve you just started it's same as if they started their leve too. Win or lose all the leves of this kind will expire. There is a trick to get around it: leader announces what leve he is about to start, all people with the same leve disband, leve is initiated, people join and given option to link or share leve (in a pickup party most still choose "link" orz, shows how "easy" is this system)

3. Farming. I don't believe killing normal mobs with guardian favor gives "mad skllz", I tried many times and have not seen any effect. Your only resources is the leve mobs. Whole party has to work together on making most of it. In some leves for example you get many mobs and only few targets e.g. imp mission in Camp Horizon - you need to kill 2 imps but there are no imps on the map and plenty of other mobs marked for leve instead. You get drops of some reagent from killing those and you can use the reagent to detect imps. The trick is to farm as many as possible even after you detected the imps. Even if there are just few monsters you get much more SPs by using low damage attacks, 0 durability weapons are very nice, doing ~25% damage of their pristine versions.

With communication being as hard as it is now it's impossible to do in a pickup party at the moment: people will link instead of share, drop nukes and AoE on the leve targets immediately and generaly don't join parties in the first place. More see how much it takes to level after lv15 more they will be eager to learn.
