I'm in the market ward (lotus gardens) and I'm finding it far too confusing. How am I supposed to know whos selling the items I want?

Look up the npc that sells and avoid the pain, you can travel to another city on foot to get it in the time it takes to search. Some people are smart and name their retainers armor, shield, miner, ore, crystals...these are the only ones i have the patience to check. Dont they even play their own game and realize how stupid this is or was it easier to program it this way so they could release before wow expansion....

The best way to search in the markets is to just roll your face on your keyboard and hope you find what you are looking for.

http://www.ffxivpro.com http://ffxiv.yg.com Both sites have (very partial) bazaar listings. Its the best we can do since the HNICs at Square are afraid of AHs.

Like alot of players, the "good Stuff" you'll more than likely find in Player character's Bazaars than in the market wards. (at least i seem to) SE need to realize and stop adding resources to the wards, no one like's them.

IMHO~ the wards should have been made like an Online Shopping website, your retainer should be the window to the AH, store info on what you most look for on the AH and bring up your most common searches, ie food, crafting materials weapons, while also allowing you to browse the whole AH for other stuff.

Then the original factor - bazaaring stuff! you place them with your retainer who puts them on this AH database which sells them.

You also still store items in your retainer like you would your moogle in FFXI,

I'm sure this would drag people to the market wards in their droves and actually like it. The wards in turn could just be a personal preference then of which one to choose, sorta elieviating the lag on 1 specific ward, allowing for example 300 people to store their ward before it closes. and no one else can gain acsess to that ward. (3 pages of wards think its 5 wards per page, so 5x3 = 15 x300 = 4500, thats more than enough space for a server full on wards)

You'd have what they tried to offer witht he original retainer system but more User friendly

Enlist the help of other players.

All I do is say "I'm looking for such-n-such! Tell if you find it!" And others do that too. If I find what someone else is looking for, I tell them. I've never spent more than a few minutes in a MW. I've always found what I needed.

yeah SE should stop trying to fix the Ward ( dedicated floor for X kinds of gears, If they do that they MUST allow us to have 1 retainer per floor type for FREE and it will be a mess to manage).

SE should say, we now realize having no AH was a bad idea, we approx 3 months of development time, so you'll have it for xmas!

If they took this approach I would not cancel my account at the end of the month and live with what we have now, but I guess they never heard of Agile software development methodologies.

The current system would work just fine if they added the ability to search the retainers once summoned in the market wards. Even if you searched one ward at a time and still have to go and find the retainer that has the items. Sort of like the way EQ and EQII's market wards work... I hate auction houses personally but that's just my opinion.

I really don't want them altering the retainers too much as i can see them being removed and with no banking/storage having to deal with 80 item total forever... /shudder

Hey i got a great Idea, just hear me out.

How about, and i know this sounds crazy but, how about you create a place where NPCs will place everyones unwanted items on a list of some sort that can be viewed and bid on by everyone.
You could call this place a "Home of Item bidding" or maybe something like "Auction house" for short, i dont know.

I know its revolutionary but give it a chance, i think it could really catch on.
And next time, dont fix something that isnt broken, ******

That sounds far to silly Id rather visit multiple wards from all over the world and click separate people and search them one at a time. Or I can use a nifty search for sales item from my inventory but I have to have the item first...which would probably reduce my need to search for it. I like my way better.
