Anyone who defends the game and says it's good is either lying or has absolutely no experience of what a good MMO is.

I take it you haven't been to college yet and haven't been taught how to write an argument.

Your opinion means about as much as anyone else's. You trying to pass it off as fact is hilarious.

Again, why are you here? If you think the game is a failure, go away. It's that simple. Walk away and find something you enjoy. You don't have to burden yourself with an attempt to persuade the people who are playing to not like it. If we're enjoying it, let us enjoy it. If we're just idiots playing a game we hate, let us be idiots. It's of no concern to you.

(At least until ALL games released are tailored towards idiots like us that have no standards and WILL buy them...then BE concerned)

There...fixed!

Sorry, but it seems to me there are a lot of liars in the FFXIV community. Anyone who defends the game and says it's good is either lying or has absolutely no experience of what a good MMO is. And to give it high scores in forums is just deceiving the unwary and causing them to waste their time and money. I suppose there are people who are amazed simply by being able to move an avatar on a computer screen, but they shouldn't be writing reviews touting such an egregious slap in the face as FFXIV. And if you think someday, somehow, miraculously, the game is going to transform from an ugly duckling into a swan, I fear you're deluding yourself. I hope SE is reading these negative comments. They should be ashamed.

Sorry you feel that way
but what alot of people think is "good" is this cookie cutter crap blizzard puts out
Im sorry, but I like a little bit of challenge in my MMOs, and to also make them not feel like a job at endgame

In the last 2 years i have been in several launches, and every game gets blasted for "not being wow"
Aion got blasted for being too hard
every other game got blasted for being too easy

there is on way to satisfy people it seems

Now granted, FFXIV has its issues, every game does(even games that have been out forever)
BUT at least with this game(which I am enjoying btw, thats the biggest thing for me) At least i havent finished the game and everything to it already like i would have for almost any other game out there by now(even wow i could finish everything this fast)

Now now, what Blizzard put out is not "cookie cutter crap". They pioneered many ideas themselves and there may seem to be simplicity involved in WoW because it is incredibly accessible across the board. I don't think a good argument for FFXIV is to mock or downplay the achievements that Blizzard had with WoW.

I think that the problem with FFXIV is how the bugs and difficult UI have become obstacles for people to really enjoy the game. When I idealize it, FFXIV is unbelievably amazing. I love the mystery, I love the questions that I have about everything, and how it will take time and personal investigation to discover those secrets. I can't wait until I can get to Ishgard and figure out why they're so peeved at dragons. I think the average playerbase is enthralled with the _ideas_ about the game. The problem is that the interface is counter-intuitive. The leveling system is awesome, but interacting with leveling is horrible right now. Short of a complete redesign of partying and EXPing in general, I can't imagine how they're going to correct these issues.

My issue, as well as several "haters", "flamers", and "trolls", is that these are drawing-board level concerns. Ideas weren't fully fleshed out before their implementation. Base-level components of the game are overbearing and joy-killing. The only thing saving this game for me, at this juncture, is the amazingly amazing stories (which SE can, obviously, hang their hat on) and the great and friendly people I am meeting all over the place.

I'm actually in college with a straight 4.0 average. The game makes my argument.

1 big thing i can not deny
the people make the game, and i play with friends, so its kinda hard for me not to enjoy it because of that(though i still enjoy it when they arent on, i kinda wish i had more time for it)

but yes, there are issues, never denied that once
hope they address and fix some of them at least, especialy some of the bigger things that im curious as to why they arent in(a search function especialy)
The chat UI does need an overhaul, if i could name my biggest omplaint, it would be the inability to chat while doing anything else.

Hey guys. I hear that since OP and his supporters aren't enjoying the game, it means that no one else should either.

Confirm/deny?
Deny.
I dunno. The thread title says otherwise.

"How bad must it get for you to stop defending FFXIV?"

We couldn't possibly be defending it because we're enjoying it and realize that all MMO launches have problems that eventually get fixed. No, that's not possible at all.
That's not saying what you think it says. Also, you're making the implication that everyone else who has a problem with the game also agrees with the same sentiment, which is also wrong.

I'll grant you that there are a few select people (typically very low postcount people that register just to say it) are actually of the opinion that you're wrong for having fun. These people are just as unimportant as the people who so boldly claim that the game is flawless as it is right now and anyone who sees any flaws in the game should quit and never come back, and those people exist as well, though in low numbers.

tl;dr: Extremes exist on both ends, and both extremists should be ignored, the worthy content to debate (and the bulk of content overall) is found on either side of the middle.
