So Ive was in CB, OB, and had since CE release. I havent crashed more then 2 times and those times were attempting to open vent with ffxiv open. I log on this morning and I crash within 5min of getting on. I start to fight or I run around and within 5min I get the FFXIV crash. I dont understand it. Nothing at all has changed. Not a single thing, No auto-update, no anti-virus update. Nothing.

So what the **** could this be? I'm getting really frustrated. I have 0 qualms with this game other then the usual things that Im sure will be fixed. I just wanna play my ffxiv!

I crashed four times in 45 minutes last night, after playing from start of CE with only two crashes in that time span (a thankful change from Open Beta). I eventually gave up and watched some television.

Something was really buggy last night. I'm on Wutai if that makes any difference.

**** this. I cant even play the game. Most of the time it crashes during the loading screen after selecting my character. If I somehow make it past that I can only paly for 10mins tops before it crashes again.

Does ANYONE have ANY idea what is causing these crashes?
#8 Oct 05 2010 at 9:27 PM Rating: Good
i think they changed something quietly on their side in the middle of play.. cause until last night i also never crashed, then after a few hours... crash, get on and an hour or 2 later... crash, sometimes turning in leves and boom... crash.

even rebooted after the 2nd one and that did not stop it. ohwell, other then annoying it only messed up one thin i was doing which was a crafting thing.

I think I may have fixed my crashing (knock on wood) by reinstalling FF14. Give it a try, doesnt take that long really.

I just lost connection 3 times in a row within the past 20 minutes. Up until that point, I had no issues and had been crafting.

Of course, this starts to happen as soon as I begin doing levequests with friends...

Yeah I was getting the "cannot access server" message as well. I just now got past that but I'm still getting a lobby server error when trying to log in with my character.

Someone dun goofed over there on SE's side.

Edit: Finally got in after another 10 minutes. Seems to be stable (for now). I'm on Rabanastre in case anyone was else from there was having issues.

I wouldn't recommend reinstalling. I have crashed a few times recently and I was also in OB and CB with no issues until last night. More than likely since OP didn't have any issues previously it is server-side. Wouldn't hurt giving your computer a good restart if you haven't previously, I know SE said that their were some issues with computers that have been on for a long period of time.

Obviously try other things first, but I got to the point where I tried everything and nothing was working. First started crashing last Thursday, had my computer off all weekend and then Monday night it was still crashing. On Tuesday it continued to crash so I finally caved in and reinstalled.

Reinstalling doesnt hurt anything, so I see no harm in trying it if you've exhausted all other options.

My girlfriend's PC crashes pretty regularly when playing full screen (gtx460 1GB, both the 258 and 260beta drivers), changing to windowed mode prevents it.

Hope that helps, it seems there is some kind of bug in ffxiv in general that occurs when running fullscreen.

Yup..you are not alone. I changed it to run full-screen and haven't crashed since. Now I'm back to window and for some reason it hasn't been crashing....yet.

Bump... crashing over and over also. I've been playing CE with no more than 5 crashes but now I can't even play for more than a couple of minutes. I'm getting the infamous "unable to detect directx" box. Yes, I am overclocked but my temps are normal, I have the most recent directx and ATI drivers. Is this a SE issue? I pray tonight maintenance will fix this.

Yeah big problems here too. I have been trying to submit bug reports and gave them some crash information. Fun times.. fun times.

Perhaps this maintenance will fix everything?

Well, I figured out my problem sortof.

I rebooted my pc and at BIOS display it said I have overclocked my pc and/or are having a overvoltage of some kind. Strange thing is i have yet to Overclock anything on my pc. So, i just reset Bios to default and everything has been fine since.

Currently we are experiencing an issue on the Saronia World causing players who attempt to access the areas north of Camp Emerald Moss and the North Woods in the Black Shroud to encounter an error that could cause login problems.

We are currently investigating the issue and ask that players please refrain from entering these areas until the issue is resolved.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

i had a connection loss to the server at 9pm last night (Australia) thinking it was maint but get home from work tonight theres no patch to update.
