Games Like This Give PC Gaming A Bad NameFollow

I couldnt download the beta let alone play final release. I tried everything regarding router/firewall settings but nothing worked. Now I just downloaded the Medal of Honor multiplayer demo and that didnt work either, seems I got the same connection problem.
I never used to have these problems. This is just an example. The Warhammer patcher is a walk in the park, double click on the icon and away goes the patcher, and look how fast it is. This patcher downloaded at about 7 bits per second. Try running as administrator, open these ports, TCP/UDP, drivers up to date etc etc ad infinitum.
Thought PC games were supposed to be the thinking mans version of console games, better looking and more involved. BUT if the devs cant get the basics right, eg, connecting then dont release the flipping game until it works for one and all.
Ive had it with PC gaming, too much trouble for its own good.

considering thousands of us had no problem with this, it sounds more like a personal problem. PC gaming isnt for everyone, we all take the risks that a little extra work may need to be done when configuring settings in order to get that brand new game to work. Do some poking around and im sure you will find a fix for your issue.

Elitist sentiment like this give PC gaming a bad name. That aside...

Truthfully, you will always have some technical barriers to face with less mainstream PC games - but nowhere near like the issues people have had with XIV.

Sounds like you're having problems in general. The FFXIV launcher/updater is very simple, just install and run. I've never seen speeds below 250k, and that's without adjusting AV/Firewall, port forwarding, running in admin mode, or any of that other crap.

Pft, I been playing since 89 online this is by no means the worst online release.
First off. MW2 was FAR worse release. lol and
Tabula rysa. FAR FAR WORSE of a game release and far worse PC difficulties.
This game is doing very well.
For those of who overcome the techncial barriers can se the game is frikin BUSY!
over 2700 on any all servers at any time and every area you are in is full of bodies.
Now does that happen casue a game suks? Not really lol. Now YES thereare STILL HUGE amounts of fixing to do I am no frikin fanboy and thinks his favorite game is teh end all and be all as this is NOT ythe case lol.

1)targeting needs to be looked at. ( auto target actaully fails to grab mob kiking your ***, alot of deaths due to failure to lock targets. )

2) again .. no AH is failure method. not ALL or everyone cares to synth. it is popular task to partake in but.. alot of players preffer to level by weapon and missions so finding armor, weapons items is taxing time and patience. And mainly, a player can not plan ahead by seeing what is available at a higher rank/level and how much it MAY cost in advance.

3) Crashing during a level quest cancels the mission? right. that's very rewarding.
4) opening the menu so much is not needed as often as they have us doing.
I know it is to genericly conform PC and console commands and options but gawd dammit

5) Please bring back the F keys for targting Party and NPC objects. ATM you pretty much have to grab the stoopid mouse. and FF was nevera mouse game it was just a kick back with keyset and go nuts game.

But all of that does not make it a bad game.
The connection issues you may have alot of times just means the picky settings of your router has to be set.
( The FFXIV Config already shows you the ports you need to map and the range to set it at.)

The Server error Dsiconnects I am sure is their fault. as it seems to be a random deal and it honestly only happens to me Around the level areas, eiether shortly after activating it and I am omw to mission area OR, .. wait. thats the only time it crashes, After I activate , noramlly after the first one ive done AND omw to area.

bah all in all I am not cancelling my subscription anytime soon lol.

The OP know nothing about PC and come complain.

First of all why the heck do you have to run adminstrator? 99% would have their account already set adminstrator unless you have someone superior @ PC avoiding you touching the PC.

If you do have someone superior, get them to fix it.

Secondly, Don't complain about you can't play jack. You didn't even post up your computer spec and what OS you use.

Thirdly, if you have problem, check Support forums. This isn't here to complain about "i can't play this"

Seriously, OP, You are an idiot. Please lock this thread.

OH and Medal of honor SUCKS, go play modern warfare 2 or Battlefield. Who plays Medal of honor, really.

Vista and windows 7 have a feature called UAC that prevents programs from making changes to your computer or registry without your explicit permission, some programs dont always pop up and prompt you to override the static permissions so you need to right click it and run it as an administrator. The final fantasy updater happens to be one of those that does not prompt you.

Personally, I think its people like YOU that give PC gaming a bad reputation. Instead of posting somewhere and trying to be productive, you make this QQ thread because your setup blows. I have had ZERO problems with this game thus far and I look forward to continue playing it until I get bored. For future references you should probably check what's going on on your end of the table before you start blaming a game. PEACE.
