HQ a guildleve?Follow

#1 Oct 05 2010 at 11:50 AM Rating: Decent
I was just wondering if it was possible to HQ a guildleve. I was doing Hanging by a thread, and hit 200+ quality on each synth.

Thus, I have two questions.
First : Is it possible to HQ on a guildleve synth?
Second : If is isn't possible then, is that quality rating high enough to HQ hempen thread outright?

You can't HQ on guildleves, and as for your second question I would think that 200+ would be high enough to HQ hempen thread.

I've managed to not get HQ on 300 quality, but had a +3 at 200. So HQs are luck when it comes to materials and parts. Gear, of course, you can use "touch up" to HQ.

Are we sure about this? I remember reading if you HQ a leve you get a better reward.

Yeah, I "HQ'd" a leve and got some extra nuggets that weren't part of the reward. You don't HQ the item though, you just need a certain appraisal value. I only did it once but that one time had an appraisal over 100.

But not in a local leve synth, because they don't allow you to touch up ever, which is part of the reason I don't believe that local leve synths give HQs (I've never gotten one). What you do get is higher "appraisal" points for more quality, and a high appraisal score gets you more money and at particularly high values even bonus items. Plus the higher the quality the more exp you get from the synth. So there's still good reason to strive for high quality on local leve synths.

You can't create HQ items during local leves. However, crafting with high quality and more quantity than the leve requires will increase your reward. This is what those appraisal numbers mean when you complete levequest synths. If you consider that a higher appraisal number gets you a higher reward, I guess you could call that HQ'ing the guildleve.

It works like this...

When you do a crafting guild leve you accumulate an "Appraisal Value". This value is shown in the chat window as you complete each piece.

Any extra items you make still count towards it. For example, if you have 4 sets of materials but only need to craft two things, you can still craft all four for appraisal value.

When you turn the leve in, you always get the reward stated on the leve. Then, you get bonus items or gil based on the appraisal value.

Its not known at this time what the bonus item list consists of but I have gotten pretty nice stuff. It would not surprise me at all if there were rare bonus items you could get if you pump the appraisal up high enough.

There seems to be some confusion between Quality and HQ rate.

Higher quality at completion just means that *if* your item HQs it will be +1 (1-100), +2 (101-200), or +3 (200+).

On guildleves your completion score is based on quality & quantity of goods completed.
