Might give Age of Conan another go or FFXI ,the only 2 MMO's I've consistantly gone back to over the years. But also might just get the new Fallout game or the new Fable ....not too sure yet.

I wouldn't go back to FFXI. I'd keep playing StarCraft 2 and Quake 3 until Guild Wars 2 came out. Then I'd come back to FFXIV in a year or two.

FFXI or FFXIV but come next month I will purchase.... GRAN TOURISMO!!!!!! when it comes out. And yes I am god **** waiting for it.

When this is out I might have a semi break from FFXIV and play that, do events on FFXI and stick to those 3 games for about 6 months and maybe think about quitting FFXI if FFXIV is ready.

I already quit.. Sold my account to my cousin.. for 75% of the original CE..

Went to Lord of the rings online.. while stalling for Cataclysm.. I can't be bothered to play WoW before Cataclysm.. Lord of the rings online on the other hand feels fresh in terms of environment and scenery :) ..

The next best thing Would be Guild Wars 2.. my next subscription game is most likely going to be Star Wars: The Old Republic..

I wont be lying, I went back to WOW, and now that Cataclysm is going to be release on December 7 is either that or the new star wars game.

SWTOR looks pretty abysmal at the moment, but I have been caught up in FFXIV for the last month, so not sure how SWTOR is progressing. FFXIV all the way... I can't imagine quitting.

If I did quit 14 I would go back and play WAR. I have a few low level twinks on the endless free trial and then have my choppa and RP that I'm sure miss me. Never been a big fan of PvP but WAR some how captured the moment maybe something to do with pouring boiling hot oil on the invaders trying to breach the fort :).

FFXI = PSO, FFXIV = PSU. Dead man walking.

Great analogy. PSU had prettier graphics and a fun battle system but was also glitchy, soulless, not as fun, and no offline multiplayer. I still play PSO on the GameCube with my kids - in fact we were just playing last night. Not bad for a game released in 2000.

What MMO would I go to? Really hard to say. To me, the best MMO all-around in its design is Everquest 2, but it's played out for me and I'm done. I've never played WoW and have no wish to.

Edit: Holy crap, I just found out that Sega announced PSO 2 for PC coming next year. Do I dare get my hopes up? I was so excited for PSU and was really disappointed. Seems to be a trend these days. Diablo 3 don't fail me. >.>

GW2(although I heard no healers so that might be a no go)

1) every class is a healer in GW2. They're doing away with the holy trinity crap. In place of healer/dps/tank, theres tank/dps(debuffer)/dps(buffer)

Its interesting to me how many people aren't in to any MMO anymore and just came for FFXIV. I kind of feel like that. I reactivated my WoW account but it is just as boring as when I quit, and each new set of armor they release makes me more annoyed that they keep using that mottled stone texture on every. ****. thing.

I only noticed a couple of mentions of Everquest II. On paper that game sounds really good, your own house, guild hall, complex crafting system, economy, dungeons, etc. But reading around it seems to be dying, why is that?

I also played EVE for a while but couldn't get in to it. Been thinking of giving it another try as the Developers seem to show no signs of slowing down and in fact are making a FPS based on it that they may integrate closely into the game.

Guildwars 2 sounds interesting too, I really like that they're doing away with the standard job trinity, that's so old and played out, its not even realistic.

I was very excited about Star Wars, but I'm not liking some of their design choices so far (smuggler wookies). I had a blast with guild wars, so GW2 has me pretty excited. I used to read DC comics, so thats probably worth trying out too.

I have no idea if it's dying or not. I only stopped playing because I tend to get tired of playing the same game after a few years, even if it's really good. I always still recommend it to people who like fantasy MMOs.

Also, Everquest 2 is the kind of success story that gives me a sliver of hope for FFXIV. EQ2 pretty much bombed when it came out. You almost wouldn't recognize it from the refined product that's out there now. The developers took the initial negative feedback to heart, went back to the drawing board, and corrected literally every major gripe that people had.

The only change I've heard of so far that I don't like (and this was implemented after I left, so I'm going on hearsay) was that they made it a ton easier to defect between good and evil. I really liked how you used to have to be very careful not to get ganked in enemy territory while you laboriously performed quests and killed mobs to improve your faction with the goal of being just trusted enough not to be killed on sight. It should be tough, and you should have a long penance, in my opinion.

But yeah, overall great game and worth a look-see.
