Can't install "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working"Follow

I can't get it to install on my second computer for anything. I originally tried installing with Windows 7 Enterprise x64, but never could get it to install, so I re-formatted and installed Windows 7 Enterprise x86 and the same issue. I run ffxivsetup.exe from the disk, select my language and then it crashes. Sometimes it tells me that an update for DirectX is needed and then it crashes. I've updated DirectX with the files on the disk as well as downloading the latest from the Microsoft site. Compatiblity options are not the issue, but I've tried no compatibility, Vista Gold, Vista SP2 and XP SP3 but the same issue no matter what.

try nvidia beta drivers also update windows completely. this includes the language packs. go to your windows update in start menu pick all priority AND optional updates and install them.. then let it restart your pc and do it again

itll find updates about 3 times so thats 3 update/restarts

then after your 100% positive win 7 is completely updated with all neccisary AND optional updates restart again and install ffxiv

I did try the nVidia Beta drivers under x64 and it didn't work there either. I haven't done all of the language packs since they are huge and why would I need Hungarian language packs?

Ah, I haven't installed Java yet. I'm downloading the Japanese Language Pack right now to see what that does and then I'll do Java next.

If you are having problems on setup then I would be changing out the dvd-rom as the first step. If you still have problems, try installing to a different hard drive. Also make sure that you have administrative rights on the windows account that you are installing.

Using a different computer and sharing it over the network should take the DVD drive out of the equation. I was able to install DirectX from the same disk and drive with no problem. I was even able to copy the contents to the local hard drive and got the same error there.

I think I finally got it. I was trying to install on my work computer which is joined to a domain with re-directed "My Documents" folder. I took it off the domain and was able to install, but when I joined in again, I couldn't config or launch.

Using ProcMon from SysInternals I was able to see it failing to find files in "C:\Windows\CSC\v2.0.6\namespace" which is where the Offline version of my network "My Documents" folder was stored. I had to take ownership of this and all subfolders and now I'm in.
