Hello all. I don’t know where else to ask this question.
I’m starting FFXIV over; I didn’t get too far, I don’t like how my character looks, burned far too much anima, I didn’t have my FFXI account active when I registered and I want the Hermes’ Shoes bad.

I reactivated my FFXI account, content ID and everything, and it was already linked to my Square Enix management account. I created a new $3.00 FFXIV account (free during trial), built a character, but I’m not getting Hermes’ Shoes.

I created a Square Enix support ticket, contacted support by phone, and they verified everything is correct to receive the in game item. However, they state I “may” need to wait until the end of the day before it becomes effective and I’ll have to create a new character then.

Anyone else run into something similar, where after activating your FFXI account (not in trial) and linking it to FFXIV you have to wait “some time” before you can create a character for the in Hermes’ Shoes?

I believe it takes a full day or so before it registers so you can get the shoes. I never had mine canceled so I didn't have the problem but I believe that's what I've read on the subject. wait a day or 2 and you should be able to get the shoes.

Oh man, I don't even want to rage about this, so I will do my best to keep this calm.

A few days before the release of CE, I reactivated my account, which was apparently requesting payment for June, even though I had cancelled in May and my credit card expired June 1st. However, I just paid the amount they requested to pay for all of June and then reactivated my account. Come release day, I couldn't get the shoes on my character, so I waited on the phone with SE for 2 hours to talk to someone, since they didn't answer my ticket in 24 hours. When I did get them on the horn, they said I couldn't actually get the shoes until the 1st of October, since my account had been in remission and their billing rules then put me on a cycle for the 1st. So I paid for not playing in June, then paid for September, and would not be able to play until I pre-paid for October on the 1st. They said nothing could be done and said they had other customers to help and hung up on me. I was a bit upset, as you can imagine.

I just gave up.

I believe you had to have your FFXI account active for a certain amount of time for it to be considered "Valid" before you activate FFXIV. I had FFXI registered for years so my shoes were ready as soon as I logged in the first time.

I believe people were saying it was a 1-2 day delay for FFXIV to recognise your FFXI account and give you the shoes if you just then register your FFXI account.

If a PlayOnline ID with an active FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID is linked to a Square Enix account with a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account, all new characters created on that FINAL FANTASY XIV service account will start out possessing an in-game bonus item. However, you cannot obtain in-game bonus item or will take long period of time to obtain one under following conditions.

- If you have created a character before linking your PlayOnline ID (It is, however, possible to receive the in-game item by deleting the characters you created, linking your PlayOnline ID, and then re-creating your characters).
- If, at the time of creating your FINAL FANTASY XIV character, the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI Content IDs are invalid (the Content IDs have been cancelled and are thus not being billed).
*In case you reactivate the FINAL FANTASY XI Content IDs, it will take about a day until in-game bonus item becomes obtainable.
- If the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI is in the free trial period.

I just called Support because PlayOnline reported my Free Trial period ending as of midnight 12.5 hours ago. When I go today to recreate my character on any world I do not get the shoes.

I bought FFXI on Sept 11 and the free trial expired Oct 10 at end of day midnight. I linked the ID to my account on Sept 11. Maybe if I wait another day or two it will register as others who freshly reactivated a non-trial FFXI account had to wait?
