Ok so thanks to this stupid directx bug that I can't fix no matter what I try, my game crashes every time a cutscene starts. As a result, I started in Ul'dah or wherever and I've missed two intro movies and have no idea what the heck happened in them or what I'm supposed to be doing. Can anyone fill in the holes for me? Thanks.

P.S. f'k this game. Between installing and trouble shooting I've been at it for 6 hours and I haven't even played it yet...

Like, I just had to skip these events with this huge fat thing that I had to throw rocks at. I have no idea why I was fighting it or what happened before/after...

Ok here goes with my terrible memory and even worse story telling skills.

Cutscene One

You arrive in Ul'dah aboard a Chocobo pulled coach, Your character jumps off the coach and an "Astral explosion" fills the sky, everyone else apparently sees fireworks Talking to the NPC's after this cutscene tells you about the parade.

Cutscene Two

During the second cutscene you see the parade, a Mi'qote whom you will become a little familiar with later is handing out flowers to the crowd, including a small girl, she then tells the small girl to hand out the flowers to everyone and runs off and jumps aboard the carriage pulling the giant Gobbue (Thats your huge fat thing) and starts dancing, the crowd oooh and ahhh at the dancing Mi'qote. Meanwhile the Thamaturge is seen stood in front of the Gobbue and a small Mammet (I think thats what its called) Blows its horn, the Gobbue falls asleep and wakes up 4 seconds later with a wild look in its eye. It is not happy and the Thamaturge turns around and trys to regain control of the creature but its too late, the creature gives him a good slap and proceeds to smash the carriage carrying the dancing Mi'qote, rhe Mi'qote falls to the ground and the crowd realises this is not supposed to happen and start to flee. An Elezen checks the Mi'qote and Thancred a Hyur I believe gains, the attention of the Gobbue thats looking intently upon the Miqote and Elezen and this is where you start the fight

Cutscene Three (After the fight)

The Gobbue wakes up and runs off, you follow it with Thancred the Hyur and the other two (Dancing Mi'qote and Elezen) and it smashes into the wall just missing the little girl whom was given the task of handing out the flowers by the dancing Mi'qote (The little girl is only saved after her father dives into her to push her out of the way. The final scenes show scattered petals and the little girls unconscious father.

I have probably missed something but that what I remember from yesterday.

Hey thanks a lot Theahra. Pretty upset about this issue because I finished the first part of the story quests last night and I had to skip every single cut scene. I hear the story is really good and the cutscenes looked awesome so I was sad to have to miss them.

What rig are you running FFXIV on? Since I've run FFXIV on an old HP that could barely manage the game and still saw all cutscenes every time there was one? So i'm just wondering is your hardware up to par?
