now im not gonna name names here cause any avid mmo'er who has played at least 4+mmo's not counting ffxi or ffxiv knows this

almost every successful MMO there is has one thing in common.

a PTS or Public Test Server.

and why does this help these mmos to succeed well for 1. it lets the players know when something good is coming... aka an AH or a fix to a nerf or even a future nerf.

mail system ect ect. thus taking the guess work of "maybe" this will be fixed ect

now we all know the #1 mmo has this but as i said anyone who has played more then 4 also knows pretty much every successful mmo has this including the free ones with a cash shop
(oh and believe me i have no doubt in my mind ffxiv may become a f2p with a cash shop like DDO and LOTRO did as they already have the Crysta system in place which SCREAMS "Cash shop")

but yeah perfect world... pts coh/cov... pts wow... pts almost every one of the top 20 mmos listed on mmorpg.com.. all have PTS

if we had a pts and there fore knew what was going to be added in the next week or two alot of people would be much happier and this also works on the opposite end of the spectrum.. people who absolutely HAVE to have certain things such as an AH ect could save their money by canceling their accounts then reactivate when an AH shows up on PTS. instead of just giving up on this game entirely.. its win freakin win

edit mucho typos

Actually, I think that what this game needs most is less QQ and more pewpew, but I give you credit for bringing something new to the table instead of just barfing out the same tired old **** for the umpteenth time.

i don't remember seeing 2-5 millions of the ragnarok players group rally up and complain about
no auction house system.

You guys just never played Ragnarok, that game have crafting as much as FFXIV and everyone is happy sitting in town showing their items.

thats off topic im talking about having a PTS not 1 specific fault or non fault

a PTS covers all aspects of the game

im not whineing about lack of an ah just saying a PTS would make it so those who are could just cancel til one shows up , if ever, in pts

also its hardly fair to compare ffxiv to a 2-D korean free game like maplestory/ragnarok

If you want FFXIV to have a test server you first have to convince the devs to communicate more with the playerbase. All those games have working test servers because the devs are in constant communication through official forums. SE would much rather give a 3 month update announcement than run an official forum let alone address bug reports from a test server. Just look at how alpha testers were treated.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that a test server is like a sneak peak server. That is wrong, it is a test server used to publicly test new game content. Kinda like an on-going beta. SE also prefers to do in house testing rather than public testing and they certainly don't like giving more than subtle hints at upcoming content updates.

So yeah, pretty much all of SE's customer policy is against a public test server.

I agree, the forum needs more posters like the OP and less posters who think they should have spawned maxed out in everything with 2 of every item.

Thanks OP. Hopefully this forum will be worth visiting again in a few months, I've about had enough of the ******** and petty troll like attacks from idiots who can't read, can't comprehend what they read, and/or have zero capacity for critical thinking.

this is pretty much what im saying too. all they do is in house testing then we get a buggy glitchy patch that makes the game worse followed by multiple emergency maintenance's to fix what they broke

the addition of a PTS would fix this as well

what i hope though i realize its unlikely, is that if enough people understand what im getting at like the person who posted after you, all banded together and made this suggestion really hammered it in to SE as something we want instead of crying there's no AH. we would have a much better chance of SE acknowledging this and possibly implementing this in the future.

years of ffxi bad updates followed by multiple emergency maintenance's youd think SE would have realized this is something we need

Does anyone else have the feeling that this cling to secrecy is the cause of the horrid crafting interface?

It's kind of cobbled together as if they WANTED to give you a listing of items you could make but it looks like some suite made them hide it until after you pick your materials to use and then only display the items you can make with those ingredients...

So you are suggesting they implement a public test server so hardcore nerds won't overreact and keep their pants on instead of whining on forums? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE FORUMS THEN MAN!?

Hmm, very interesting point! I never thought about it, but it is a great way for SE to test out ideas without worrying too much about repercussions.

However, I think in the current state of the game, and the ethos that SE is attempting to maintain, this does not quite fit into the FF realm. I think I would be equally pleased, on my end, if the patch note discussions were released far in advance and SE was a bit more transparent in development, but that does not solve the obvious benefits that SE would get from having a system like this.

Everyone is a beta tester for Squeenix products. The PTS = the live servers, whenever they release an update.

i know the plausibility of this actually happening is virtually zilch. but my main point remains the same. is somehow **** froze over and SE did do this.. im 100% certain this game could not only recover from its current state but even become the number 1 contender against wow.. basicly transforming us from little mac to bald bull

instead of king hippo with the major belly weakness ffxiv is now
