but I think it would still be fair and also avoid 'issues' if it was changed so that you weren't allowed to switch only if you had started fighting yourself. Thus you can let your partner run ahead while you get your gear on and join the battle when you're ready.
That is how I'd like to see it as well.
It doesn't make much sense in it's current form. If I'm grouped with someone who is several squares away on the map, why should I be prevented from switching my class where I am, simply because they're fighting however many malms away?
A mob should be tagged as a group's when it is engaged by one of it's members, but only those who engage in an action against that mob should be set to active mode and receive aggro. If they buff or heal a member engaged, or hit the mob, they're engaged themselves. Someone fighting a crab 3 squares away shouldn't stop me from taking my pickaxe out to mine a spot.
