any one know if they are going to fix the class changing when getting aggroed upon while farming? my wife is my partner and if we are both farming neither of us can change to a dam weapon. we are forced to use a rock that does nothing and flee. i think this needs to addressed.

you cannot change jobs while farming. If you're aggrod while in gatherer gear you are supposed to throw a rock and run. thats why wrist flick stuns. Its also why getting out of combat is so easy. Get out of combat, switch, and kill whatever attacked you.

i really dont see that as viable answer, why cant my partner change gear and agrro on the thing that aggroed on me. i remember in FF11 being able to switch weapons in the middle on a battle from a sword to a broad sword or what not, of course at TP expense. so i feel that is a lame reasoning. maybe i have enough hp to kill it and want to without having to relocate my session.

Suitable or not, that is the answer. If you are in a party, and one person is in combat, the other cannot change class. I was grouped with a friend at drybone, He went off to solo and i tried to switch classes to do a crafting leve and I could not until he was done. You cannot switch classes in combat, if you could, and you're rank 7 pugilist was losing a fight, you could switch to your rank 40 marauder and live. they didn't want that to be an option.

doesnt make much sense then, why? because i have a sword but i cannot use it cause i have a pickaxe in my hands. i cannot use it cause they say flee. no sense what so ever. make my farming class have battle skills to make it more realistic or let me sub a small dagger or something to combat back when farming.

When farming, watch your back. You're out in the big bad woolly areas so you SHOULD be cognizant of the fact that you only have a tiny hatchet in your hands and stuff that is 27' feet tall could be ambling towards you.

But if you do get caught out, run. Do not hit it back, unless your only hope of living is to get a stun in. Get out of melee range, unequip your hatchet so you can run faster. Get even farther out of melee range.

Then equip your badass sword and shield and go wade back into the fray, properly equipped.

If you're in a party of two, have an agreement to split in two directions. whichever one is not being chased is the one who equips the melee gear and the one being chased tries to land stuns to help out once combat starts. Or since the OP has the option, yell at each other across the room so you know when both of you have managed to get into melee gear before turning and attacking back.

If you hit the big baddie out of fright and startlement, combat has started and you're stuck with the useless hatchet and the rock you find next to you. so plan a little for contingencies and you'll do fine.

And keep an eye out behind you. Constant camera spins after every gathering round would help in the surprise department.

I can understand why you wouldn't be able to switch classes on the fly if you initiated combat, but the issue here is if you are some distance away from your partner and they initiated combat, you are also entered into combat despite not lifting a finger.

Yes perhaps there needs to be better communication to avoid such sitations but I think it would still be fair and also avoid 'issues' if it was changed so that you weren't allowed to switch only if you had started fighting yourself. Thus you can let your partner run ahead while you get your gear on and join the battle when you're ready.

This would not throw the balance off because you wouldn't be able to switch half way through a battle if you're 'in' it, thus avoiding the above example.

i just saying i think the emerald bee swarms are a perfect example of this. i dont even need to bee near them and they see to make there way over to me while im farming and bing. if i had a hatchet like a sword i should be able to do some sort of slashing damage, and changing gear if were a option is obsurd with the slow interface and the lack of being able to cut and paste a macro. ihave tried the macro string a few times and cant seen to get it work. i want to play not program my load out.

That is how I'd like to see it as well.

It doesn't make much sense in it's current form. If I'm grouped with someone who is several squares away on the map, why should I be prevented from switching my class where I am, simply because they're fighting however many malms away?

A mob should be tagged as a group's when it is engaged by one of it's members, but only those who engage in an action against that mob should be set to active mode and receive aggro. If they buff or heal a member engaged, or hit the mob, they're engaged themselves. Someone fighting a crab 3 squares away shouldn't stop me from taking my pickaxe out to mine a spot.

yes, you hit it on the button. that has happened to where we are in exp sharing range but still cannot change gear to assit the other when aggroed. yes thats what im talking about mainly. now if they cant provide this at least let me tools do some damage dealing. i dont wanna run from blue mobs that i know i can rape, it just a nuisance, i can take it if given the right tool.

True colors showing.
If you get it, there's no need to bring it up. It's a game mechanic to adhere to strategy.

Keep going.
Not being able to change during battle is to keep PVE balanced. Things like changing class during a fight is completely unbalanced. Think about it. I'm getting a bunch of rank points on my pugilist, then when the mob is about to die, I switch to my level 1 conjurer. What happens?
How about you try using your head?
