Wow can't believe some of the replies here, why are you bashing this girl and her boyfriend? She posts something very informative and others nitpick or complain... Sheesh. Anyway, very nice! If I could rate you up more than once I would! You're lucky to have someone go through that much trouble to write such a detailed guide then be OK with you sharing it with us all. Thanks for that too. I knew quite a bit of the stuff in there however a good chunk of it was still new info to me too. So... thanks!

You my friend have the wrong idea with my statements. I commend whoever wrote the helpful article, I think it is a great tool that can help out many players.

I can however say that the similarities continue to pop up and my viewpoint stands. Does it affect the validity and helpfulness of the second post, well nope not at all. but it does make me question the motives behind the post, that is all.

Hi. I'm gonna call the FBI with a case of stolen identities now thanks.

/sarcasm

thanks for being a good sport, nothing against you as i'm sure you can't tell.

*edit*Also I guess this means my viewpoint now lays on its side getting trampled...its just a flesh wound though.

Just wondering, if you only played WoW prior... why did you use >.< I've genreally only seen those style smileys with the FFXI and XIV crowd? And I'm assuming you're English (as I recall being very confused the first time a Woman texted me here in the UK with X's and O's like that in a non-"I want to hook up with you now" way, though I've been out of the US for a few years now so things may have made their way back home by now.

Great guide though, your BF (and you by association) get a rate up... now talk my Wife into playing.

Well WoW was my first MMO/RPG. My Friend Kim got me into it and my boyfriend had an old acct so we just leveled and played together... We still play as I'm the guild leader of my guild - we just have slowed down a bit since we are already Kingslayers and there's not much left until the expansion. He on the other hand stopped playing FFXI to play WoW with me, so we decided to pick up FFXIV together now.

I've honestly always been a gamer (Diablo, PoKemon, BioShock, Fable, Orig NES FF, SIMS, Soul Calibur, ect.) - Just recently was introduced to the world of internet gaming a year or two ago is all. LawlZ - Thanks for the interest, IDK where I picked up the strange emotes... Maybe from my FFXI player BF! Haha.

Also, My BF warned me that the Final Fantasy community was a lot more mature then the WoW Trolls I'm used too, So I was taken back by some of the trash comments received - But Burton has restored my hope with his honorable acceptance of being schooled. Smiley: bowdown I commend you.

I used >.< for years before FFXI came out. I think it's just a manga fan thing, tbh.

@Lhune - Congrats on the new baby! As far as your questions goes I can see if I can find anything out. I'm actually going to be starting my Conjurer later today probaly. Also, I HATE having to hit the enter key all the time too!

Thanks! I played some more tonight and the 'area of effect' is as I thought it was. I'm getting used to hitting enter all the time, but it's still a bit of a bother. :>

Hmmm, I seem to remember hearing rumors about these women who use the internet before.
It seems feminine but I recommend approaching it with caution as it could be a mimic.

you should rescind this statement quick, lest she bust out the whopping paddle again.

And carrie, I think the maturity difference you will see is similar to how our situation played out. The jest will be there, the nitpicking of stupid sh*t will be there, but the ability to not retaliate when proven wrong is much greater (although this obviously isn't something that is true across the board).

or yesterday. or the day before.....or the day before that....or really all of this last week....month really. man, when was the last time i shaved? do i even still own a razor?

I thought real WARs don't shave.

how often we shave is directly proportional to the time we spend blocking swords with our faces. ive been in grad school since september, so the last time i was able to mangle a few hundred in the name of glory was a few saturdays ago :(

so i have quite the manly coverage going on for the time being. bits of blood and gristle stuck all up in it tho.

edit: oh thank god. i knew it!

Hadn't read this since last night but. . . wow, people can be ****ing jerks. It was good work. Its this kinda garbage, in my opinion, that prevents someone who could potentially offer useful info and interesting threads from posting.

well, i think part of it is, people take seriously a lot of the good-natured ribbing that goes on around here. its obvious she made a good post to anyone with half a brain who plays this game. so instead of falling over ourselves stating the obvious, why not have a bit of fun?

two notes:

1) it's a good guide with a lot of helpful information.

2) there's plenty to do in WoW after "kingslayer", unless you're rocking the light of dawn.

Haha, Yeah I do still play even though I have Kingslayer! The only issue is it's kinda slowed down. Arena is about to go away with the new patch, and with flex raid coming too - I'm just not sure how interesting the game is going to be to me until Cata.

Bump for old time's sake...

Although I must admit, this "frustrated girlfriend" eventually did quit playing. (If only temporary.)

For all the hardcore fans, listen - it was beautiful - yes! But like most things of beauty, there isn't a lot going on inside. (If you catch my drift...)

The game was slow, and my frustration level rose beyond normal when I would go to withdraw weapon - *Wait a few seconds* - hit button again since it must have not registered that time - *Wait a few... Aw dammit my weapon just withdrawed then returned...* *Mother %#@$%&@@#%!!?@ I QUIT!!!*

So I wait.

Me and my boyfriend both bought the collectors editions, hoping this could be something we enjoyed together - but for now it sit's as a dissapointment. We do plan to come back if all actions necessary are taken to get this game where it should've been, which seems like they are starting to take place... Till then, you can find me fighting elemental invaders and being pwned by a notorious deathwinged dragon in WoW - On the U.S. Server, The Underbog.

KThanks.

I would like to take this time to quote one of my favorite opinions on FFXIV, said by my one and only.

"If it was any other game, with any other title, I would've never spent more then 5 minutes playing it. I wouldn't have even given it a second glance - and I would've had my money back. But since it is Final Fantasy, I am tolerating it..." -Emotionblues

Take note that was before we both decided to quit. There comes a point where you have to say, "I can't take this &#!+ no more!"

-Ciao!

Reads like self-deprecation, if you catch mine.

First time checking this thread, but after seeing the content of the OP and the date, I was curious to see if you had actually kept playing. My girlfriend and I quit, too.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Ever try playing with a controller? As much as I don't like playing PC games with a controller, I finally did the switch and found things went a whole lot smoother. It still has it's lag issues, but it's manageable now. Just food for thought.

Don't worry about the trolls, and don't feed them, nice post - I would have done something like this for my girlfriend (who also came from WoW as her first MMO), but we only ever play when we're both on at the same time, so I end up being her walking/talking pocket guide. This is a nice informative post for new players though, rate up.

(Edit: I didn't realize this was a necro, nor did I see the second page, yay for my irrelevant post. Oh well, still rate up.)

Anyway..... really can't wait till i get to finally play ffxiv. Really wish I had a working pc. Or ot was out for ps3 already. YES FLAWS AND ALL.
