Repair someone else's gearFollow

How does repairing someone else's gear work?

I know they seek repairs on it and it goes into their bazaar, but then what? Anytime I see someone with a damaged item that I CAN repair and HAVE the materials for, I go to attempt the repair and always get the message, "Unable to complete transaction". My inventory isn't full, not that it would seem to matter.

Does the person seeking the repairs have to be the ones to have the materials needed to repair and not me? Some people offer good gil for stuff I can repair, but it never lets me. Doesn't give any message about not being the right level or anything. Has anyone been able to repair someone else's gear? And if so, how?

I've seen that. I think it's a bug. You're not doing it wrong.

Also to those seeking repairs.. you have to make it worth our while to repair. You can't offer 100gold if the items needed cost 1k

I repair people's items often, and the person repairing has to have the items needed to complete the repair. Is the person you are trying to repair items for standing still? I know this sounds silly, but it might be like a bazaar in which is the person walks out of range the transaction can not be completed. It's really the only thing I can think of. :/

Also, you have to make sure you are on the correct job to do the repairs. That may seem painfully obvious, but I'm just reaching trying to figure out why you can't complete repairs. . .

Well, the people are standing completely still with me next to them. And I know I'm using the right tool, cause my most recent tries were on things requiring a maple branch, that I've repaired of my own just fine, and I had my carpentry gear equipped. My character drops down into the crafting position, then the message appears, and my character stands back up. It's the oddest thing.

You know what? I think I may have an idea. If I succeed with the repair, where does the item go? It would go back into their inventory as a repaired item right? If their inventory is full, then it won't work will it?

Correct. Tried to repair for a LS mate and this happened, but I do not remember what message I got in the log. It would not let me because they had 80/80 and these items are in the bazaar.
