A version update of FINAL FANTASY XIV was performed at the following time.

* The software client will begin updating automatically the next time you run FINAL FANTASY XIV.

[Date & Time]
Oct. 8, 2010 at 10:00 (GMT)

[Affected Service]
-FINAL FANTASY XIV

[Important Update Details]
- Made an adjustment to how experience points are distributed amongst party members. Instead of dividing a total number of experience points by the number of players who participated in the battle, it now distributes the total amount of experience points equally amongst all players in the party.

- The chat log will no longer close while entering text during the following processes:
- When viewing a bazaar
- When setting up a bazaar
- During gathering
- During synthesis

- An issue wherein a player would be unable to progress with the quest "Futures Perfect," if they join a party during the cutscene has been addressed.

- An issue wherein a player would be unable to start a levequest if they initiate a teleport at the same time has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure for an issue which prevented players from gaining skill points during battle.

- An issue wherein the FINAL FANTASY XIV client would shut down when a player adds or removes a new party member has been addressed.

- An issue wherein players would take damage when executing a macro command for an area of effect action that is centered on themselves has been addressed.

- An issue wherein messages in tell, party, or linkshell chat would not go through properly has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure for an issue where an item would not display properly under a certain condition.

- A rare issue wherein an item data would get corrupted during a server outage has been addressed.
* We have confirmed that if a player attempts to put this corrupted item into their bazaar, it would cause the server to go down. We are currently in the process of addressing this issue, but until then, we have temporarily restricted the bazaar function for players with these corrupted items. We will be providing an update on this situation once we have a better idea on when the the actual fix will take place. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

- An issue wherein the login queue would not work as intended during server congestion has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure to prevent server outages under a certain condition.

- Other miscellaneous issues have been addressed.
* The previously announced improvements to the market system are currently in the final preparation stages and will be ready by the version update next week. Please keep an eye out for future announcements regarding this matter.

Edit: Notes added, they weren't there when my original post when up.

EDIT: Seems they mentioned it in the update notes posted below. Thanks for that info!

Most important change sounds like the SP countermeasure. I'll let others test that out before I form a party, though.

I'm really really happy they handled the issue with the chat log closing while crafting. Extremely happy. They seem to have handled a bunch of little bug fixes as well, go SE. Also says there will be a version update next week, I'm glad they are keeping us a little bit more informed.

Yes last week on the lodestone site. They said they will be renaming the market wards to more fitting descriptions of items sold there. If you sell the correct type of item in the related ward you will not be taxed on it. If you sell items outside the related ward you'll get taxed (more?) on it

SO if you're selling armor in the armor ward you'll not be taxed. But if you're selling food in the armor ward you will be taxed.

Hopefully that is the first of many changes to come.

Thank for the reply. I do recall that now (sorta). So, does that mean its like needing to go to a new 'zone' for different items?

Wow. So. . . this is supposed to be more efficient to find vendors? (not trying to sound sarcastic but asking) Seems time consuming when you have to visit this many wards to 'search' for various items.

Edit: Unless you are being sarcastic lol. . . which I hope you are

When I go out to the bazaars, I'm not looking for a vendor, I'm looking for an item. My last big quest was for a Hempen Robe. Being able to just go to the Clothier's Ward and not have to sort through dozens of bazaars selling marmot meat would have made things much simpler.

The above list is way too specific and i hope not official.

Why have a ward for gloves and boots and legs and body and pants... Just have a ward for leather armor, armorcraft armor, cloth armor... DONE.

Do you really think a crafter is going to only craft for one slot?

Glad SE has addressed some issues and going to next week as well.

One thing I want SE to do, is give the public more info on what is fixed or being worked on, they really need more community based info being sent to us the fans/players.

People wouldnt quit if there was a list of things going to be fixed or being worked on over the next month.. SE keeps far too quiet about these things. They need to do what Star Trek online did, that game was a mess at the start but they got their act together and kept people up to date on future content being worked on.

Because crafters are going to be looking for very specific components from many other crafts than their main craft to complete a finished product. I've already started hoarding components so I have them on hand if someone makes a crafting request. It would be nice to know which ward to find a specific component in and not everyone is going to be selling finished equipment. There's going to be a market for trading pieces too.

Also, I do tend to get a bunch of mats for a single finished item and make a whole bunch at once. It would also prevent the wards from getting way to crowded.

Dig through the forums.. You'll find threads of people who said that their Bazaar item would get corrupted if somebody purchased something that was in a different boundary area than they were in. They were within range, but in a different area and it caused the bazaar to become corrupted.. They couldn't add/remove items from the Bazaar and it turned out SE did that on purpose to prevent them from crashing the server, lolz...

To be honest, I am very satisfied with this update.. They got a TON of stuff done in a small period of time.. Looks like today is most definitely a good day to sign up and start playing, IMO.. See you guys on Besaid..

We have confirmed that if a player attempts to put this corrupted item into their bazaar, it would cause the server to go down. We are currently in the process of addressing this issue, but until then, we have temporarily restricted the bazaar function for players with these corrupted items. We will be providing an update on this situation once we have a better idea on when the the actual fix will take place. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

is this why my bazaar has been broke for over a week and GM's refuse to respond to me?

It's a step in the right direction. Small step, but still a step.

As an aside, I really hope that list of wards isn't an official one. That just looks..... Ridiculously complicated and way more zones than is necessary. I mean.... How is THAT going to be more efficient (for us AND them) than just....

Well I don't even say it.

But really, are all those wards going to be in each city? What happens when they expand the game and more cities are added? Will those have all these wards as well? Or are the wards going to be broken up so now I have to go to one city for ingredients and another for armor?

It's giving me a headache even thinking about it.

They said that is the list so far, but it might change before they release it. Regardless of what it is when they release the list, they also said they are working on a way for players to be able to search the market ward items without browsing each retainer one by one as well. That may not be ready in time for the version update, so they are starting with categories.
