Blue is the lowest of the low, there is nothing lower than blue. Dodo is blue, Wharf Rat is lower than Dodo, but the game doesn't have any color to symbolize that, hence blue. Common sense?

Then it either means that your gear is horribly underleved, your Physical Level doesn't match your rank level (as funny as it sounds, yes if you're only grinding on one DoW/DoH only your Physical Level will be underleveled too) or you're doing something wrong. Though some mobs are hard for their level, nothing some good gears and a bit of Physical Level + possibly some cross class will not fix it, especially when they are blue to you.

I wonder why they didn't have a color to indicate that the mob is no longer worth fighting. A gray con icon should mean it is "Too weak to be worthwhile". Why oh why did they decide to take a step back from FFXI in so many ways?

I'd say having a visual aid instead of a check button that provides with a text description is a step up I'd say; it still needs tweaking, no doubt.

Here's something cool I found: I was fighting assassins. They both ranked red. I killed one. Then the other one turned blue. Why? Because the color is based on the group's con. Since I lowered it to one member, it dropped!

Correct, just like when you're in a party, the color changes as your party has more people in the area. Quite the change from XI and its simplistic /check results. :)

Your physical level seems low to me. I've been doing a lot of crafting, but I'm 24 physical and only 13 on my combat class (gladiator).

thats because i dont do crafting, i make my gil from shards when killing mobs so my phys aint going to grow as fast as crafters.

thats why i had a moan in one of my previous threads. it aint fair that crafters get 3x as much exp then others. i have seen people thats nearly lvl 40 on phys and it ****** me off.

i know crafting is hard work but we shouldnt have to be forced to craft just so we can get our exp up quicker. all my phys points are from grinding.

What exactly are you fighting 5 days to solo one lvl seems pretty exaggerated. At that skill lvl should still only take a few hours at most of steady grinding in a good spot. Find a cave that you can keep to yourself. Non only should the lvls come pretty steadily you will pick up some nice items to sell or worst case vendor.

Additionally, if your concerned about your physical lvl being low grab another weapon or two and start lvling other DoW's. If you hadn't noticed by now the game rewards playing multiple jobs. This is not exclussive to crafters only. Better yet if you dont like crafting start a havesting job. Not only will you increase your own physical rank you will make gil and help out the economy by providing crafters with materials.

I would replace all that optical gear with real optimal gear for your level.

Sorry, I couldn't resist ^^;

It's true that sometimes the indicator is a bit off, but it's not too bad actually. Some things might be easier to kill by one class but harder by another one too.
Tried blue crabs with a Lv16 CON friend yesterday (myself as Lv14 GLD). They were blue due to us being 2 people but we couldn't kill one.
Then again, crabs could be something special too.

because i look around for mobs and find it hard to find the right ones and when i do you get about 2-3 max untill you look around again. so i give in and just end up turning game of to watch tv.

They may have boosted SP gain now, just yesterday right after maintenance leve reset, I've done 3 r20 leves at Horizon with my friend (healer), 1 1 star and 2 stars, for about 35 minutes I gained 5k SP being r19. What I did is that in one of the leve I just used Guardian Favour and go around hitting non-leve mobs for a bit (like 4-5 Aldgoat Nannies) and gained a substantial 300-500 SP each goat. You may want to party up with another guy and try this.

Lol, yes it does. What it does is that it almost double the chance of SP gain every hit/action you make, which means you can milk double the amount of SP you would from a fight.

I wish mine worked that way >.>

Saw somewhere that someone said it worked for non leve mobs so I tried it twice yesterday. Spent 20 mins of 2 different leves just killing non leve mobs. I didn't get any sort of abnormal exp from them. I'd get 20-70 a hit (when I got anything at all) where as on a leve mob up to 200+ on some hits. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I doubt it... Is there any proof that it actually works on non leve mobs?

It does not raise the SP you gain per hit, it raise the chance you get SP per hit. You still get the normal amount of SP per hit, but now instead of SP every 5 hits, it's SP every 2-3 hits.

If you can't kill a blue puk at rank 16, it's not the con system that's broken. You're just not a very good player. Go ahead and rate me down and cry and whine and whatever you need to do for saying it, but it's the truth. Most people grind on puks starting at rank 6-8 with no difficulty and by about rank 10 they move on to dodos. Rank 16 and can't kill one? Maybe you're confusing puks with something else, because the only other puks I see are red at rank 17...
