How do you get from Limsa to Ul'dahFollow

So I've been trying to make my way from Limsa Lominsa to Ul'dah. First I take the ferry from Limsa to Thanalan, but then I die trying to sneak passed high level mobs in Thanalan. Is there an easier way to do this? Also the map for Thanalan seems to have no correlation to the way the landscape is laid out, which is really annoying.

The reason I'm trying to get to Ul'dah as only a level 10 THM, is so I can buy the Worm-eaten square shield for my Thaumaturge.

You can get someone to teleport you, once you have the Uldah crystal you can teleport yourself.
P.S That shield can no longer be bought, it's a faction leve reward only.

You should be able to follow the road and it will take you to Ul Dah safely. Just watch out for antlions when entering Central Thanlan

take the ship. once you arrive head east. follow the road, turn south at the fork and you're there.

Yeah, they are hard to get by. Took me three attempts to run by their area, odd thing on the third run by they were all gone.

I haven't made the run many times, but the twice (once OB once release) I never really had any issues with the ants or much of anything. Generally stick to the road itself and only stray off when necessary. Sometimes there'll be an ant near the road but they had always been easy enough to avoid. Now the harder spot is near the exit to The Black Shroud where there's some ants that hang out near the choke point to get into the narrow passage. Though usually you can just hug the eastern wall and be fine there.

It's an exciting run.....but it's nothing compared to that first run from starter cities to Jueno.
