So i am downloading the patches for FFXIV and they are going at a snails place, is there a way i can download them with utorrent? I know you could with the beta i just don't know the exact way to (if you can) with the Release version.
Not quite sure that "slow" is the word your looking for .. maybe someone can come up with an alternative.
I Bought the game earlier today around 11am and started installation at just before midday. It's now nearly 10pm and I'm on ... ooo.. let me see ... 54.1% ! WEWT !
I'm used to big patches and long patches having played numerous MMO's. This 10hour (so far) patch to simply get the game started for the first time seems rather excessive, no ? Other companies manage to use P2P fairly successfully and achieve a reasonable speed, but 1.2kbps, dropping to 2-300 bytes ? Just Ouch.
I'll persevere and leave this on all night, but I'm rather put off by the fact this patch is apparently just 1 of 2. Kiss goodbye to any fair chance of seeing this running over the weekend.
Any news on a mirror site for donwloading the patch or something would be great news.
~ I dont think you guys have your routers set up correctly. I was able to download the initial patch (on release) quicker than it took to install the game on my HDD. Every patch since then has taken seconds. Granted, I have a well above average speed, but its the remote connections that get you the files quicker.
I read everything here and took a quick look see around the internet. My other half is away, so bear with me as I struggle to get head round this...
If I understand correctly I found the file in the FFXIV folder in 'My Documents' and in the metainfo folder was a torrent. I clicked this and the torrent downloader on our PVC kicked in and started Downloading it, promising me a result in about an hour (now downloading at 80kbps ... very happy !). When It finishes I simply move the the downloaded file into the patch folder and rerun the installer ?
Then I guess I do exactly the same with the next file it tries to download... Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong ;)
Opps forgot to mention the file it's currently downloading is D2010.09.10.0000 - which was the one the patcher was really struggling with, which is 1/2.
