I've been trying to find in the forums what causes damaged gear, but couldn't find it. So sorry if this is a repost.
What causes gear to damage? Anyone know? Is it just battling mobs, or is it unsuccessful crafting also? just crafting in general? teleporation? running with it on?
I'm tempted to just let my character be "completely naked" most of the time. How annoying. Thanks for help in advance ^^

As far as I can tell - any action.

Crafting, logging, mining, fighting, sitting, spitting, waving.... maybe not those last 3, but you get the picture.

Class-related actions: so basically crafting, fighting, and gathering.

Pretty sure Rikku is correct and Outlaw is not. I did some lvl 10 guildleves today out near Uldah. I walked back to Uldah, without fighting or getting in combat with anything job-related. Sometime after arriving in Uldah, my dagger broke on me.
