Hey all

So, my roomate and I upgraded our graphics cards to a GTS 450 (I know, not the best, but a great sale makes it worth it for now) when we did, my benchmark score went from a 1000 to almost 2500, however his didn't change at all. It actually seems worse now. He upgraded from a Geforce 8600 which gave him a benchmark of 850. with the new card, he benchmarks the same, but his game runs worse so I am wondering if anyone knows what might be up. He has 3 gigs of ram, 3.0 processor on a intel 945 motherboard. We have installed all the new drivers, then went back and uninstalled the old cards, the new cards and then reinstalled in hopes it would help, but so far nothing. Any ideas on what we could do?

Sounds like on your machine the video card was the bottleneck and replacing it increased performance.

On his machine the CPU is likely the bottleneck and replacing the Graphics card isn't going to do anything until its taken care of. Any quad core cpu would likely do wonders.
