Heh you guys are funny. Thanks for all the input!

You may be dissappointed in me but I still feel like subscribing. As one poster mentioned there really isn't much to do in this crappy province (Alberta).

They surely have ponds in Alberta, don't they? Why not to go there and throw some pebbles, watching the circles they make? Right there you are getting the same quality of entertainment. If you go further and try to throw skipping rocks - you are already way ahead of FF 14. Filling questionnaires at the mall is more exciting and more rewarding too.

Might as well build xp so at least I'm ahead.

Ahead of what? You mean "when this game becomes playable and people will come back to play it and you will be a rich and mighty highlevel"? There is absolutely no reason to believe this. You are welcome to listen to people who said "there will be AH in two weeks, Square promised" even though Square explicitly said there is not going to be AH in predictable future (kinda like in FF XI people uses to say that TH does not affect key drops and pointing at an interview where one of the developers explicitly says that TH affects key drops). In my opinion the game has at most till May 2011 and even that is contingent on Square strong-arming Sony into approving this abomination for PS3. Most likely it won't even make into 2011 with the player base diving at the end of October.

There's literally no content outside of grinding and a nation quest in each city.

The only reason to play right now, is to get gil and exp, for when they do add actual content.

False. The guild quests are already in place.

I'm glad to see a topic like this on the board,
Mostly as I too have wondered about getting this game or not, considering the fact that when i did play a MMO, I enjoyed FFXI above any other MMO I played (and yes that includes WoW). But seeing all of the negative remarks in this topic it makes me wonder, if the douche bags who write on here is in the game as well?

I'm asking as that is one of the key factors that could keep me from playing a game, if the majority of the people playing it are so full of themselves and cant give anyone else a chance to have fun.. So whats the answer to this question?

I have another question as well, in FFXI your account would more or less be removed if you didn't pay for 2 or 3 months, and I wonder is it the same "rule" in FFXIV? I'm asking as I saw some of you recommending the OP, to try the game with his 30 days trial and then wait to see if the game would be improved. Does that mean that your account will stay alive much like WoW or??

I think i'll wait to see what is updated this month and then decide whether to jump on the bandwagon or not.

The one thing that ****** me off is the zones (from seeing video reviews). This is something that will not be fixed overnight if ever for that matter. The market with or without an AH can be fixed. A mailing system will obviously be put in place and UI issues will obviously be dealt with eventually. It looks like all these fixes will be finished by March :(

Lets see what SE comes up with for next week.

Today, yes the game is pretty weak compared to everything else on the market. Combat is actually pretty fun, and mixing job classes is interesting (though it does make the classes feel kinda bland). The game is full of poor UI design, and plenty of great ideas that didn't pan out. Altogether making what should have been a casual friendly game far too complicated and not terribly fun.

The bottom line is this, weather you like the game or not this is the worst MMO launch for a major title ever.Find one positive review and post it.

Ya,all MMO launches have their share of problems. But usually in the way of bugs, glitches, typo's here and there.Maybe a certain combat mechanic not working properly. But this game's problems are far beyond that,it is fundimentaly flawed.

The UI is the heart of anygame really, otherwise we would just play all games with the UI hidden.Basically the interface is to a game what your OS of choice is to your computer. And FFXIV'x interface would be mac OS9,or windows 3.1..

The lazy design of the landscape is shamefull.Just rediculous, cut and paste modules everywhere. There is no excuse for it.

I honestly don't mind the combat,it's sort of what I expected,a grindfest just like FFXI.But there really needs to be an auto attack,w/e I could live without it.Mobs are sparse at best, but sure thats easily patchable.

Alot of ppl hate the crafting, once again I don't mind it,it is what it is,nothing great.

The latency is a major problem, alot of ppl say,"my latency is jut fine I don't lag a bit, maybe you need a better PC or something"...rrriiight,If you say you don't have high latency you are either a liar,on a private server,or have never played another online game and have no idea what latency even is.Trust me,my comp is not the problem, nor is the comp of the others with latency issues. The servers have a ping of 250-300 ms at the base,so If you had a $5,000.00 comp next door to the server on a dedicated line, you would have almost a half second delay on UI functions.

I think alot of the people that are sayign negative things about the game really want it to be a good game and not fail, but it's just not good atm.

I agree with all of your points, but holy god, use a space after punctuation.

The game is not bad is juts missing features that were supposed to be implemented and some that are missing in the process and others broken. As long as fanatics keep saying oh the game is great, is good SE will keep doing a mediocre work, they just went blind with the eye candy ( graphics ) why cause fans just defend everything they throw at them. The game has good stuff i agree with that but ( you cant hide the sun with your hand ) it has alot more that are bad or dont even work efficiently.
