Okay, it's the third time I saw someone run on top of hills, off the cliff, at speed faster than under Quick effect...

are there skills conferring those effects that I (only at level 18) am not aware of, or is it a lagging problem with my computer, or are people cheating already...?

Probably just server lag. Every once in a while I see people without the CE shoes go blasting off, stop, and them resume when I catch up to them.

I know botanists (and I'm assuming other DoL) get a temporary speed buff when searching for a harvesting point nearby. It's pretty significant, too; maybe +50% or so. Maybe a R4 or R6 ability, so not unreasonable for people to have access to it.

That botanist skill sounds similar to Prospect of miners, which gives the effect of Quick.

I do really hope it's a sever lag issue. but that jumping off the cliff stun smells cheat....again, I hope i am wrong...

This is just lag from what I've seen. Sometimes while running through narrow areas with curves I'll notice people run up on walls while coming around corners. The speed thing is just the server trying to catch up.

I'm wondering if there is something like that out already. I've watched several people run through walls and the gate in Ul'dah instead of running through the corridors like everyone else. Also saw one of those same people run through some one-way terrain.

Maybe it is lag, but it may be worth keeping an eye out for.

I agree it's probably just lag.

I once saw someone running across the water under Limsa Lominsa! >.<

I play the game next to my girlfriend and I look from my monitor to hers and can see the lag first hand - Its around 2-3 seconds on average.

On my screen I'm the leader and she is poking along behind me yet on her screen its the opposite with her leading and me trailing behind. Its disorienting at times.

I see her stop running and on my screen she is running for another 3 seconds. I see her cast a spell and hit the mob for 100 damage yet on my screen she is just beginning to cast.

And finally, I see her walk through a open door on her screen yet on my screen she walks through a closed door - or worse the wall beside the door. I routinely see her go over a cliff, through a door, over a boulder, etc and go 'wtf?' then look at her screen and she is clearly planted in the middle of the road and not doing magical feats my screen reflects.

You know you've been playing too many MMOs when:

You pass a cop and wonder if it 'Agroed' you.
Another car passes you, you attempt to /follow it.
You use your "push to talk" key while talking on the phone.
Text-based games You put a /s before every message you type in an IM (or equivalent / command)
(I have done all)

Wait... in WoW we would be allowed to jump? How did blizzard manage to support such unique technical stuff?

2004 was the peak of MMORPG technological advancement. Technology has been quickly regressing since then.

It's a combination of both I think..
I noticed that when I'm auto-running up a steep hill or steps and then I use scroll lock+print screen or if my computer just can't keep up, I can pass through any object.. Sometimes my characters runs right through steps, walls, bridges, mountains, you name it.. Sometimes I get stuck underneath the regular passageway and can't quite reach up high enough to get back to where I was, but often times I can make a 90 degree turn and pop out of a wall somewhere.. Sometimes I get stuck right below the map and the only thing other people see is my character name hovering inches above the ground.. So I have to "return" with the penalty of anima.. Hate it when that happens..

Rule of thumb, NEVER and I mean NEVER run and take screenshots at the same time.. You can literally end up 10 feet under the map.
