I have had this problem a lot too - I have usually just been persistant and pushed through, login attempt it 30 times and manage to connect.

However since yesterday I can't access the game at all - I've got a toon I've played, rank 12 conjurer, rank 12 weaver, and a few other lower ranked classes..... So I don't understand why I suddenly cannot connect.

My errors are 30001, 13001, and others. I've filed a SE support request, got a ticket # today and am now waiting - I have no solution. MY only thought is it may be my router.
I've enabled administrator access to the game, opened the port range 50000 to 65534 as according to Lodestone, and disabled my application firewall and windows defender, and I still cannot log in.
It tells me timeout error, so unless its my ISP(Shaw Cable) or router(linksys WRT54G wireless-G, but my PC is wired to it), I have no solution.
It kind of annoys me that I'm paying for a game I'm not able to play, every day costs me money - and I'm not the only one having this problem. Most forums I've read about it have all been during the beta or CE, before sept 30th official release date. It makes me wonder what is wrong, and I just can't find the solution.
I'm hoping that sometime in the next day or so I'll get through and stay online longer than a few hours.

I really need help to solve it - I know its solveable - but......I could only imagine how this problem has affected their potential player base. Perhaps its server congestion, but that still isn't fair to have paying players that can't play because they weren't prepared. I don't really know, I'm just venting now.

I had this same problem when I got home. I was able to fix it by turning off automatic port settings in the game settings, then forwarding the port on my router.

Since you have already set up your router, I would suggest checking the port settings in the game configuration to make sure they match and if you are obtaining your IP automatically you may want to try setting a static IP address and configuring your port forward settings with that.

Best of luck to you.

I think I resolved it and I have reason to believe Windows Live Messenger was conflicting with FFXIV.
I am not having any problems now except occasionally when streaming video from gamespot or youtube. Anyway, I think background applications effect this game pretty badly, so I closed everything that wasn't essential, and anything that connects to the internet at any time, and it seems to be fine now.

Thanks though, I'll double check what you suggested.

right klik icon be sure it is running as ADMIN.

Be sure ports needed are ported in router. ( I also found I had to widen the range of IPS availble to my network from the router as OTHER progmas that are online start to give issues. I refuse to trun anyhting off so this seemed to fix my issues)
I run Xfire MSN live, steam and Fraps while playing FFXIV.
I used the games port seertings fromt eh Games config TOOL IN GAME DIRECTORY. wENT TO ROUTER DID AS IT SAID BUT widened RANGE OF ipS.

So, go to Documents, MY GAMES. if you MOVE the folder you r downloader willRE download any patch needed.
That was ONE way.
second thing I did once was.

Go to game directory, Copy GAME VERSION and GAME BOOT dat. to safe location.

Then make VErsion and BOOT the same.
So.. go back to game directory, open game VERION. open game boot (dats)

make VErsion and BOOT same.
Save ( wont save to directory will hae to save to desktop then PAST into game directory)

( Keep an original of BOTH in safe place!!!!)
the game should Boot.. BUT.. as you try to play it will crash thats OK... its just to get it past lobby and FOCRE a missalign to FORCE a download.

Quit game.. reinsiert ORIG BOOT AND VERSION DATS. all should be well.

I am on Windows 7.. and no.. it wasn't my idea.
