The funniest part is when (for example) you're looking for iron rivets - but instead you find brass rivets and you think 'That's almost what I need! I'm getting closer!', but in fact, you aren't.

You mean you don't like spending over an hour in a laggy room sifting through Bazaars filled with Moko Grass and Cotton Bolls, trying to find a piece of gear?Whats wrong with you people,THATS INNOVATION!!

Market wards are like shopping at a flea market, but all the vendors are deaf/mutes,and keep their stuff hidden in a trunk.

I tried finding an item in the market wards once, I saw multiple item that I needed but I wanted to compare which retainer had the lower prices..

After going through almost every retainer, and assuming I could remember em names without writing down, I realized I forgot the names of those selling at the lowest prices..

I thought they named it "Ward" because SE implenented it to "Ward" off potential subscribers and profits.

I once lost my own retainer in a ward. He wouldn't spawn. I moved and let the NPCs reset like 8 times and he never showed up. Ended up moving to a different ward and resummoning him there.

Trabia server, Gridania, White Oak Ward, southern end of the bazaar. There's 3 dudes there selling it for under 100g each. I even saw a guy selling for 50g each. (apparently he doesn't know he can get that much at a vendor with no comission fee)

If that doesn't help you, then it's not my fault you didn't list your server. :P :)

Here's what I think:

SE should forget the zones to the Market Wards (People are setting their Bazaars outside anyway) and make a building just like AH. But not make it an actual AH so as to avoid the RMTs. But, streamline the search through an AH like Menu that puts retainers under certain categories (Armor, Weapons, Alchemy, etc....). No bidding! Just searching! =D

LMFAO. Funniest thing I read all day. And it's so funny because its true! What makes it even more funny is the people defending it. Would they be satisfied with flea markets like that? I doubt it lmao.

I think what they wanted with market wards got lost in translation. There is no way they fight RMT (except in the obvious way of letting the game die, but so does almost any other Tanka's "innovation") or improve inter-player communication.

I suspect they said that AH feels a lot like real life shopping and they wanted shopping to be more comfortable. You see, in Asia setting your wares on display with prices attached is not very popular. On a typical bazaar you see just a guy behind a counter and some token items to show what kind of wares he is selling. Say he sells computer parts, then there could be any computer parts on display: punch card readers, magnetic memory, ISA modems etc. So you can tell he sells parts but you don't know what parts. You have to ask him and negotiate price if he happens to have parts you are looking for. Even if the wares are in the open (like produce that you cannot really hide) there won't be any price tags. Mostly only westernized shops and the ones targeting tourists have actual displays and prices. I grew up in Asia myself and I have no clue how anybody can feel comfortable with this - shopping for anything is a chore and you basically had to dedicate whole day if you wanted to buy anything. Yet people keep doing this and apparently like it. I suppose Tanaka just wanted to recreate Asian shopping experience as opposed to Westernized "soul-less" super-market-like AH. I congratulate him on his success.

I tolerate the market wards by using it as a bank only. I buy items I need by purchasing from players. I go where I think the crafters might be for the type of item I'm looking for. If that doesn't work, I get old school and /shout wtb like we did before bazaars and auction houses.

I literally laughed out loud when i read this, because i told my brothers which also play several times the wards should be listed as.

1st Ring of ****
2nd Ring of ****
3rd Ring of ****

...you get the idea

I have tried on three separate occasions to find a Bronze Hatchet or a Plumed Bronze Hatchet. No one responds to my shouts, regardless of where I shout (near bearded rock, near skull valley, near the armorsmith/blacksmith guild, near the NPC markets, inside the actual market ward, etc). No one is selling one in their bazaar or retainer either.

I don't give a damned about community. I don't give a damned about making friends. I WANT A ****ING BRONZE HATCHET.

This game is ridiculous.

A. We have continued to receive copious amounts of feedback regarding changes that players would like to see made to the market system. As a result, we are planning a number of revisions and additions to the system, the first of which are scheduled to be implemented in the next one to two weeks.

Specifically, market wards will be organized according to specific item types, making it easier to consolidate similar items in the same area. Further, if an item sold within a ward corresponds to that wards’ item type, the tax incurred will be reduced. Items not of that ward’s category may still be sold, but the tax imposed will remain the same as it has up until now.
