Hi. Recently joined Rabanastre server with my adorable Lalafel, Lemuria Glitterhands. Mostly I've been killing time and monsters, but im also very interested to get up to speed on crafting.

Finding recipes seems to be the hard part though. I've looked at various websites for recipes, but they either don't list the rank requirements, or do so incorrectly, or they require compound items made by other classes. Is there a genuinely bottom-up approach to crafting? I'd like, ultimately, to be self-sufficient enough to make my own clothing. Preferably red, as I've heard its possible to dye clothes at long last!

Despite all the negativity around here, im in love with this game. I'm certain it will only get better as updates fill the gaps left by a hasty release. Nice to meet you all, and hope our paths cross in Eorzea.

Now if the majority of this Forum was filled with post like this / people like this, this forum would not be a garbage site for FFXIV players.

You do realize there are forums for each server, right? This doesn't belong in general.

Welcome to Rabanastre! Might I suggest you visit the Adventurer's Guild counter in your favorite city and speak with the NPC adjacent to the one that gives out battle related leves etc. You can find leves tailored for individual crafts from these NPC's that are perfect if you want to make a start into a crafting class. Good luck in your adventures and much success crafting!

Welcome to ZAM :) As someone mentioned before, you should post in the dedicated rabanastre forum ^^ We also have dedicated class forums that can answer your crafting questions, the weaving forum is here. The site also has quite a useful database that I have been using to help level my crafting classes.

I too am a weaver and have been wanting to achieve a self-sufficiency with crafting. I have found leatherworking to be extremely useful in my weaving endeavors, and my fiance is leveling blacksmithing which helps with all the buckles, nails and such that I sometimes use.

If you don't want to level a bunch of sub-crafts you might want to look for a crafting linkshell on your server. Here is a thread in the rabanastre server forums about just such a thing.

Welcome :) and happy adventuring to you!
