Mysidia: Impressions?Follow

Does anyone feel that there's a lack of communication on this server? I find whenever I attempt to communicate out of LS, no one feels like talking.

Is it just because everyone is more concerned with grinding those leves out in their own groups? Or perhaps this server is primarily non-english and others simply don't understand my statements? Or maybe, the pain in the *** chat window (lol). It's so hard to access this thing compared to XI, I don't understand why they changed it at all.

What are your thoughts?

I agree, this is an incredibly anti-social server in many respects. That said, I have heard that Mysidia is considered by some as the unofficial Japanese server, just like Besaid is the unofficial RP server, so don't be surprised if many of the people you see running around don't understand English.

That all said, there are some of us who like the social aspect of MMORPGs. I play a Sea Wolf named Ghunzyr. If you see me around Limsa, feel free to say hi.

Ah I wish I knew it was the unofficial server before I picked it lol. Nevertheless, it's nice to know there are people that enjoy the social aspect like I do on this server. I'll say hi if I see you around, I'm Saeros Torne in game, feel free to message me any time!

I found this on another forum, it might help people in deciding what server to play.

Unofficial Japanese server: Mysidia, Cornelia, Figaro, Selbina

Unofficial Oceanic server (judging from current polling): Gysahl

Unofficial EU server: Cornelia

Unofficial Taiwanese server: Istory

Unofficial HongKong server: Figaro

Unofficial Role-play server: Besaid

Unofficial Eorzeapedian Server : Trabia

And this is from another forum

- Penny Arcade: Wutai
- Role-Playing Coalition: Besaid
- Japanese players: Figaro and Mysidia
- Goon Squad from Something Awful: Figaro
- Oceanic: Gysahl
- Europe: Cornelia, Lindblum
- Core: Lindblum, Mysidia, Besaid
- Eorzeapedia: Trabia
- ZAM: Besaid
- Spanish speaking server: Besaid

So unless my Mysidia experiences start to get better, I may have to convince my friends to move to Besaid :(

I'm usually around at random times. I live in Italy (military) so I'm about 6 hours ahead of East Coast, but if your bored see if I'm around.

I do agree Mysidia seem... a bit quiet. If it wasn't from my RL friends, it would be an awfully lonely place. I think the horrible search/party tools are partially to blame for this. It is just horribly unpractical to find anyone with those tools right now.

Dunno if it is the same on other servers tho.

But do feel free to /t Dralid Montferrand now and there. I'm generally up for goofing around!

I remember you too Jadennyte!
Hume/Female/Redmage, but details do get blurry after that. Then again, it has been like 4 years since I quitted FFXI.

After a month of playing on Mysidia, I have to agree the social aspect is dead for English speakers, unless you already have close friends with you. 4/5 parties open in the whole world are JP parties. If you don't understand the comment which often includes the party location, then you're out of luck. Even if you figure out the party location, which I did once, it is no fun partying with people who don't bother trying to communicate with you. Many prefer JP onry and if not, they're usually not as picky because they're very noobish themselves which doesn't make for great parties. The only time I've consistently seen the JP use auto translate is when they're shouting to sell/buy an item. So they'll be nice if they need something from you. Otherwise, if you don't at least speak JP, try another server. I'm giving up all my progression since CE launch to move to another server.

I'm about to give up too. Only folks who would even speak to me are speaking in Japanese, which doesn't help me at all, being a non Japanese speaker.

I'm not the most social person, but I do enjoy having random chat with folks and finding a few buddies to chat and hang out with, but sadly finding it harder and harder to find that in my online games nowadays.

Wondering atm if the other servers are just as quiet and anti-social - anyone knows?

Very quiet, but is this because there is no real party system at the moment? I met alot of friends in 11, in the dunes :P

Hold on right there!
There is indeed a party system in 14, except it is a bit less intuitive than before.
Below is a tasty thread explining said system:
http://www.eorzeapedia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10206

But yes. the game is quite empty. Giving the rather...crude aspect of the game, I think some people are waiting for some improvements. Hopefully the upcoming patch *should* turn the tide!

At first I thought it was very anti-social too, then I found I was going about it the wrong way. First off, rarely will I get a response from a /shout - it just seems frowned upon I guess (unless it is in town to buy/sell I've got the rare hit). I've had huge success with the Party system.

Setting up a Party Recruitment with specific information usually has me a group in under 15 minutes. If you are vague you may be seeking for awhile. Usually I go for small parties, 6 or less. I am a THM main, so first off I set request for DoW x3 with +/- 5 levels of myself and DoM x2 +/- 5 levels of myself. I then set what general location I'll be grinding in, like Ul'dah, Limsa, etc. Finally in the message area I explain where I will be grinding like Nanasa Mines (sp?) and how long I expect to be there. Before I setup this recruitment I do a quick search to see if anyone has a party request already going.

Lastly, I'll give a shameless plug for my LS... :) If you are looking for some people to group with my LS is merging with one and forming an alliance with another in anticipation of the Company feature. I just (like yesterday) put up barbones forums if you want to check them out - http://Azure-FFXIV.DynDNS.org/ Right now there isn't much on there, but it'll grow in time. Shoot me a tell in game if you want a pearl.

Besaid is no different. You can shout using the auto translater (Guildleve) (Party) (Can I have it?) (Help me out!), and people will still run up, activate their leve's solo, and take off. I've been on for 2 hours now trying to do my R30 leves and only seen 1 other person in /shout since then, and not a single person in /say.

I just got my copy yesterday, and logged in for the first time this morning (Asia time). My only impression was that my connection kept dropping once I tried to leave Ul'dah. I really hope this isn't going to happen often.

Edit: Seems to be isolated to yesterday. Everything was great today. Can't say much for the community, other than I put some groceries on my retainer bazaar in the Grocer's Ward, and made a couple thousand gil from a couple of intelligent buyers who actually went to the Grocer's Ward looking for groceries.

I know this thread has died out a bit... but now that a month has nearly gone by and the next big patch is coming out today are peoples impressions any different? I can't speak for everyone but I myself have found a decent little community hidden away on Mysidia. A few of the posters on this thread - Dralid / Tril I've sought out and made friend with. Additionally there is another thread where a handful of ppl posted their in game information to allow others to contact them for leves/sp parties/ or just to make new friends. The community is there - sometimes you just have to look a little :)
