There is a bit of a battle going on right now between people bashing and people defending the game.

I have been defending it, and growing a little ****** off at the people bashing it.

I am no longer mad at everyone who is posting about leaving, or game problems, or just to bash it.

This morning I was reminded that most of us,the supporters and the bashers of the game, have something in common.Fond memories of Final Fantasy, be it XI, IX, VII, or I. The vast majority of us are hear because we loved other Final Fantasy titles.

For some of us, Final Fantasy XI was our first online game, or it is just our favorite. Regardless of which game, Final Fantasy means fond memories to each of us and to some of us FFXIV is not living up to our hopes and when we remember FFXI or other titles and we get mad, resentful, hurt. We lash out. For many of us who are supporting the game and having a good time, it is due to the same memories that are leading others to become hurt and angry that FFXIV is not living up to their expectations, to their memories.

My fondest memories are of XI, my first MMO. Nothing has compared to the memories of playing FFXI for 5+ years and making so many friends in it. A lot of those friends are with me in XIV and I think this is a big part of why it is so easy for me to overlook the flaws right now. As long as I can play with them, I can wait on FFXIV to improve, I can stand the issues. After all, it took me over a year or more to get my first job to 75 in FFXI, but I had a blast during that journey and that is mainly due to my LS friends and the strong FFXI community.

So far my experiences indicate, that community is back. Things are different in FFXIV, but my LS is back and going strong. Our server is developing a strong crafting community that shares and helps each other out. Once again random strangers are throwing me cures right around the time I am thinking "o ****** I am about to die".

I can not predict the future. I can not promise that FFXIV will change to become what each different person wishes it where. I have no idea if they will add a AH, increase crystal drop rates, or anything else. All I can say is that as long the friends I make in this game and I can find a way to have fun together, I will put up with a lot of flaws. For me, It is about the journey with my friends, not the destination.

For as long as I play and as long as FFXIV continues to exist in some form, I promise I will not hold ill will to anyone who is mad at SE or quits FFXIV. I understand your pain now. I hope that each of you will occasionally visit FFXIV websites and check patch or update notes. Perhaps, as I did this morning for FFXI, you will occasionally type in FFXIV to youtube to see what is happening. I promise I will not forget you and should you find your self moved to come back, we will be waiting to help you catch up, to give you the armor or weapons you might need, to share our and create new memories with you.

Remember...
In Our Hearts...
Our Memories...
Warriors of the Crystal....
What have you become?
Can you face what lies ahead?
The sorrow you must endure....
The trials you must conquer....
The power you control....
Prove your worth....
Defeat your adversaries
Save Vanadiel...
Restore order...
Yet your journey is endless
There will be those in need.....
Never Forget...
Choose your path....
As long as evil exist...
You will always be needed...
The Journey is not a lone one...
We are a community..
Never forget your past...

But as one bright star shines through the clouds at night...
And as one song rings clear above the roar of beasts...
We hold to one, one hope in these darkest of times....
That star is you and the song is yours...
You are important, never forget that... (warning: many FFXIV spoilers in this video)

Thanks to all the wonderful FFXI and FFXIV video creators. your videos of FFXI always bring a smile to my face and remind me of those wonderful times in Vanadiel and already the FFXIV videos get me pumped for what's to come!

I still say SE should have never let Sakaguchi go. Say what you will be FF was good when he was around and it went into decline after he left.
