I personally hate having to hit the buttons over and over again for no reason. I hit attack once I want it to keep attacking and not make me constantly keep smashing buttons for no reason other to make it seem like you are doing something but in reality you are not.

If you auto-attack and go afk and die then that sucks for you. Right now I have the game in windowed mode and have it on the left side of my monitor and usually something on the right hand side to read just because it is so boring constantly grinding on the same thing over and over and over again with no change.

I understand how you feel. And maybe the game isn't for you. I am not going to bash your opinion. Not in the slightest. And I don't want my post to look as me defending the game. Which I suppose I am in a way. I mean to point out the obvious. FFXI was the same way. The boss battles were even similar. FF is a game of grinding. It always has been. I enjoy it. Last night we grinded for almost 3 hours. I had fun. I began to learn how to tank, hold aggro on more than one mob, etc. Every game is similar to this though. MMO's anyway. WoW, there are "rotations" to ensure the highest dps output. Grouping is more interesting though. But as a dps, you are always just going to hammer buttons. That's the nature of being a dps class. Keeping your buffs up, your enemies debuffs up, and ensure you're beating the crap out of the mob at the same time.

Even games like counterstrike and battlefield are like this. It is a grind in a sense. You shoot, kill, end round, rinse, repeat. I agree with what you notice, but opinions on what you notice will differ. People do enjoy it. And like I am not trying to "defend" the game per say I assume you are not attacking it. You will get more abilities as you level, and as you fight higher level mobs new challenges do arise. 1000 needles from cactuars, crabs using guard, and the humanoids use all kinds of abilities. I understand killing fluffy bunnykins can get boring. I'd say stick with it and I promise you'll find what you're looking for. Or try getting in a group and leveling gladiator. It's a lot different when you're keeping people alive.

Well FFXI was not exactly like this, I could auto-attack. While auto-attacking that would give me time to talk to people or something else. I have played many MMO and I know that as you gain levels you get more abilities, but in the end that is just another button I am going to be hitting. I am already level 13 LNC, 9 PUG, 9 BOT, 5 THM , 3 WOOD and 17 PHY. And that is just from me aimlessly wandering around killing random things while taking huge breaks between 20 minutes killing sessions. I have been in groups and they did not seem that exciting since all we did was just kill things and spam attacks.

I completely agree. I feel my basic attack, you know the one SE wont let me un-equip, should be auto attacking until I chose another ability to use instead of it.

I understand the urge and want to have that. But that would offset the stamina system. It's an active game. It's different. Innovation is not always perfect. But you get new basic attacks as you level up.

There is nothing active about this game. You target a mob, stand in front of him spamming #1. Innovation isn't allways perfect, it isn't allways necessary either. Cars work great with 4 wheels, don't make one with 7 and call it innovation.

btw that #1 you have to spam, that is auto attack, they just anchored it to the action bar and make you do it manually and called it "innovation".
