Long was the time that this was the most mature FFXI comunity online, the most helpful and polite.

It might just be that with time the people that are flooding this forum with (in my opinion) cry threads and flame will in fact leave the game and hopefully also leave the forum and the constructive criticism, helpful coment on game mechanics and class interaction. If this happens I will be all too glad to come back and try to help re-creating the comunity that Allakhazam was renowned within the FFXI comunity.

It's been over 5 years since I first started posting in this site and looking at my first post even then I tried to help. I'll probbaly come and look into it just to check if any informative post are up or whatever but don't intend to make any posts myself.

I would also like to extend my best wishes to the various admins in this forum and thanks for all the effort put into it but this is degenerating into a "Killing Ifrit" look alike. There is only so much Admins can do I gess.

Content threads exist, there's a good number of them. They garner a few replies but generate no where near as much attention as controversial topics.
The truth is, there's just not a whole lot to talk about the game at the moment. Class interactions, deeper gameplay mechanics, etc. Who's going to make use of these at this time when the game actually limits players from partaking in them. I could make a whole thread about party strategy and camps, which are already existant on the first and second page, and people would more than likely to gloss it over think 'yeah, this is good info but it's not useful to me right now.'
When the game punishes you for trying to explore strategy and tactics but 'rewards,' I use that term loosely, you for doing brainless mindnumbing sh*t then don't blame the player, blame the game.

To be frank, there isn't much "constructive" anything to give on FFXIV yet. As much as I hate this game in its current state, and with the changes that everyone hopes are coming to fix the plethora of things wrong, there isn't much to say to actually help anyone with mechanics, class play, strategy, etc. etc.

So what do people do with the lack of positive posts, well, look at the forums, people have to say something, and with the overall displeasure with SE and this joke of a product they put out, all you are going to see is the negative, period.

I would hope(while not holding my breath), being a fan of FF since I was but a wee little nerd rager, that SE will come around and fix even a few of the major complaints from their player base. Which in turn will, again hopefully, bring the maturity level up and bring more positive constructive information back to the ZAM forums.

But in the mean time, I am with you for the most part with the exception that I won't be re-subbing until the level of game play is at least on relative par with what an MMO should be.

Ideas for constructive threads:

1.) Mob tougheness by camp. This could possibly be accomplished by cross referencing the Leve list with the mob level list. Really much better if done from experience.

Examples:

Camp Drybone: Coblyns > Dodos > Yarzons

Camp Horizon: Cactuar > Assasins > Footpads

When going into a new camp it's good to know what mobs you can do at 3 star or 2 star, and what mobs require 1 star for any chance of success.

2.) How to Check mob strength (color) and modify for your Physical Level. I don't understand it yet. But I'm sure it's possible.

Color seems to be based on Rank. After your Physical Level is high enough, you can handle Red mobs. When exactly? Discuss. (Someone mentioned that the icon will be a circle for easy, have nubs for medium and have horns for very tough - this could indicate evasion.)

3.) What Local Leves give you material rewards that can be immediately used?

Here's one: Goldsmith Leves often give you Copper Ore and then Tin Ore. Combine to make Brone Nuggets.
An Armorer can craft Bronze Nuggets > Bronze Ingot > Bronze Wire > Bronze Rings > Bronze Chain > Bronze Chain vest/sleeves >Bronze Haubergeon. Int his way, doing the easy peasy Goldsmith leves can get you most of the materials you need for a Bronze Haubergeon for FREE!

The point is, if you aren't going to contribute some info/thoughts to the forum, then you are part of the problem. Posting about how the forum is missing meaningful topics is the opposite of posting a meaningful topic.

I just took a week off of work to relax and play some FFXIV. I had tons of fun exploring, getting used to game mechanics and interacting with people. I'm starting to understand more advanced aspects of the game and look forward to gaining more all-around knowledge.

During my week off, I didn't visit FFXIV forums. Today, I looked at the ZAM forums and was disgusted by the whiny ******** I see here. I remember when ZAM forums used to be fun and useful..

I agree with the OP, although I havent had a forum name until recently I was visited these forums months ago.. I took a week off came back and its gotten worse.. I believe that everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion on the game but rehashing the same negative topics over and over again its just for the lulz now

My theory was that the horns meant they aggro... but then again I don't think Dodo's aggro and they have horns... or Aldgoats...

On topic: I believe that the forum will cool down after a couple months or so. There will be people who quit the game who will quit the forums, or people who came here and decide to leave, or whatever other reason. Right at Open Beta, and more at release these forums exploded with nerd rage. I think it'll slow with time.
