In the meantime on Vista/7, opening the volume mixer, you can turn down the volume of individual programs.

I understand that they're trying to aim the game more towards the casual market but I dont like the result - quite sickening grinding once your done with your regional leves in about 1 hour. SE have created a game where a large % of the players are grinding a large % of the time and it just feels like a chore, that the reason you are doing it is to level to 50 and when you do there will be fun things to do. You shouldn't have to look forward to fun of endure a game on the premise that it will be fun later.

Another thing is the quests (leves) you do get are extremely boring, kill x enemies, collect x bla bla there not gripping in the slightest and I dont feel involved at all. some of the best quests ive played are in the free game DDO, you zone into a instance which is kinda like a puzzle and you have to work your way through a dungeon to fight a boss, im not saying thats what ffxiv should do but something more exciting than "slay 6 boring creatures". I would rather grind fun quests with a party than 1000000 rats on my own cos grinding will inevitably happen, its just a matter of making it exciting and rewarding.

Not to mention the combat in DDO is EPIC compared to FFXIV.

Fast paced, reactive, mobile. Not just standing in one spot clicking 2 or 3 moves. Of all the MMO I've tried, the combat in this game is very basic, bland, and generic.

Man, I'm so with you on that. It's a lonely place with people all around and zero chat going on. This game desperately needs regional chat, local chat or something similar.

I hear yah, I felt exactly the same when I started so I ranted on here and luckily a guy from my server read it and invited me to a chatty LS. Maybe you should post in the server forum asking for a LS invite. That being said the game still needs world chat. BASIC.

I just logged in for the first time in a week or so, and the graphical detail on my character, and mobs/npc is really amazing by mmo standards.

But anyone notice how poor the graphics are for things like icons, like when you open your gear window, the little gear icons look like something from a Sega Genesis. Also like the buff/debuff icons same thing.

At least one thing was a direct result of complaints from FFXI:

Complaint: It's a pain looking for Quest NPCs, it needs to be easier to get quests. There is nothing marking quest giver npcs. We know you don't want to have an icon floating over someone's head.

Answer: Levequests, your one stop answer for all things quest.

Better answer: A list of jobs at the Adventurers Guild that you then go to the proper npc to pick up, with some dialog and maybe a small cs. Something like - The water supply is being tampered with! Go talk to Uppi-Downi at the Public Works department to start this job. Then have Uppi-Downi have a bit of personality and talk about the animals in the are nesting in the main aquafier or whatever.

or another better answer: Have quest - givers with quests you haven't done show up on your map with some sort of an icon.

Why the **** do they have so many pointless windows appearing when you doing something if the lag is so bad?! The game is so clumsy, if I want to reprice a group of items on my bazaar I have to remove and wait like 5 seconds for each one then I have to add them back with a different price :( takes ridiculously long for what your doing.

I think SE need to spend the next big update focusing solely on the UI until its a made to a significantly higher standard. Its not exactly hard for them to add a feature where you can drag and move skills items ect. This issue isn't a big game mechanic that needs a comprehensive restructure like the leves or the wards, its something so basic it makes me sick that they could go to release with it being so unplayable.

SERIOUSLY SORT IT OUT SE!!!

(Not spell checked, sorry people!)

IF FFXIV was a resterount,
this is how SE run it.

you go to the resterount and by a plate (an emty plate).
then you choose what ou want from the menu.
you ask for a sunday roast.
SE then say there gona try and bring you it... eventualy.
they then bring you pretty flowers.
/wait 999,999,999
then a pretty nappkin.
/wait 999,999,999
then they bring you your vegetables!
/wait 999,999,999
then they bring you...
a fork.
/wait 999,999,999
then a spoon.
/wait 999,999,999
then then close the esterount for maintenance.
/wait 999,999,999 + a day
now there gona bring you your potato's!
/wait 999,999,999

then they finaly bring you your meat, but its not quite what you asked for, its a little less.
and when you try and ask for a drink... well, you can geuss how that would go.

Player: "SE can you add a patch to sort inventory?"
SE: "..."
Player: "Please?"
SE: "..."
Player: "se, when are you gona add that patch for the inventory sorting?"
SE: "..."
Player: "OMFG SE! SORT INVENTORY PLEASE!!!WTF"
SE: "We'v improved the part bonus system! :)"
Player: "..."
SE: "Thank you for your feedback :)"

why dont SE listern to what people want and do it, theres no shame in being able to adapt your idea's to acomodate players. i wana know what the *** players think. becouse surly they cant be happy with what SE have produced.
iv posted somewere els all the foults i have with the game, things that should have been sorted in development.
and i read other peoples comments and people have realy good ideas that arnt diffecult to produce,
why SE keeps producing franky unimpressive systems.

the Guild leve.. ? revolutionary? no. just a potentialy awsome questing system, done badly.
wouldnt it be great if you found leave quests on mobs?
and you can trade them with people?
what if players could set there own leves?
and were are the Leves that have CS's? and adiquete rewards?

Grafics? amazing? imersive? no.. there not worth the amount of lag im getting to display them.
grafics are realy nice. but if no one buys a MMO JUST becouse the grafics are good.
and im sorry to burst peoples bubbles but, there are about 4 different hills / cliffs. that are re places in diferent orentation all over La nosca. boring as ****. and its frigging dark 60% of the time anyway!
so i couldnt see if there was anything worth looking at anyway.

SE have said there gona make changes.
and have givern us 30 more days free, wich is the smartest thing SE have done since.....

i do love FF, i HATE SE. allways have allways will.
SE are total hipocrits; for instance: "Totaly emersive gameplay"
Reality: *Cant climb a small ledge thats about 1"in scale of the ground*
*have to repeat the same quest over and over, "Make this guy some new swords" ..."oh he needs some more"
.."Again? realy?" .."yea yea iknow the drill, gimme matt's" if i wanted to play WOW i would have bought WOW
*fighting a mob* ... *Another mob attacks you!* "Cool im gona fight that one" *targets self* *locks onto self* "Huh? oh i see" *unlocks from self* *Untargets self* *Targets Player to the FAR left of me* "Gah" *Targets Self again* "WTF hurry up and target!" *Targets a mouse in the distance* *Dies* .... "realy?"

SE have there work cut out to make this game what they prommised.
as it stands;
FFXI was a tough game to play, but the people that they got they realy impressed, eventualy.
FFXIV is a tough game to play, but SE clearly HATES you and want to stamp on your private parts!

what do you guys think?...
Rant over, ima go back to the Fantasy world of FFXIV, were you'l find me killing Rats.. in a feald.. *sigh*

Absolutely. I shouldn't have to use windower to get XIV from crashing when I alt+tab out of fullscreen either, but well, there you go.

FIX ERROR 3102 ALREADY!

seriously, with the buggy code FFXIV has it brings my over-qualified computer to an unparalleled level of instability.
whenever I crash (which is caused by the shutter lag), ERROR 3102 BLOCK me log in for at least 10 mins every time.
wasting me ONE HOUR A DAY effective.

is it that hard to boot a char from game when it dc?
why we need to get additional punishment caused by SE's poor programming??

/rant off

I'm a crafter, Armorer is my trade and im a lancer on the side (when i need crystals). Just made myself some Bronze sollerets and bronze coif/Sallet to go w/ my bronze hauby~ Went out into limsa field today w/ fresh new gear and my shiny harpoon i just repaired and went off to kill some dodos for wind shards as i had just burned thru 200 of them crafting (Insert rants about synthing taking forever etc etc). My weapon has like 131k Durability, while my armor only has about 38k dura. In about 2 hours of killing stuff i noticed i was doing horrendously low damage... and checked my lance. It was down to 1/131k Dura. i basically looked like this O.o;
So I repaired it and thought, ooh let me check my gear. hmm... 37.2k/38k Huh....something doesn't seem balanced here >.>

Weapon degredation has never been a good idea, ever. And I'm not terribly fond to having to keep a stack or 2 of Maple branches just to fix my lance every couple of hours. It's....really kind of stupid.

That and im usually near 80/80 inventory as well...and god forbid I forget i left my retainer as a Bazaar out in LL Wards and tele to Gridania for something...and need to store something. Thats usually when im done playing for the day. The insurmountable fury and frustration that arises afterward is something no game should ever ever cause the player.

basically every other gripe everyone has mentioned i had too...

One i didn't see is Guild leves glitching up and mobs not spawning. You can be standing in the big yellow circle on your map and maybe just 1 mob u need left when nothin shows.... u wander all over lookin for em and nothin. So you basically waste 15min or so wandering around doin nothin.

Did they just decide to design the biggest time sync of all time in this game. My gear is all broken seems I spend all my time at the repair npc that can't seem to now even get rid of my red broken crap icon. I research how to repair my own items and looks like I will spend an hour just getting all the menus to pop up just to do repair one piece. Just wow....

Wow I click a npc fixed up and go man we need something hella less time consuming then this with all the pieces that need repair this feature is pure ***.....

Pretty much agree with everyone's gripes here, but one that I didn't see is I'd love to make the arrow keys programmable. It makes no sense to me not to have an option to have the keyboard the same as FFXI. Of course, I may be the only person that prefers the camera controls on the arrow keys.

They give you a "reward" for playing both games, but then you have to remember a new keyboard configuration when you want to switch games. a simple gripe, but it's a simple fix.

Not so much of a complaint, but more of a possible website feature request. not entirely sure where to put it. Sometimes reading the site on my mobile can be a bit of a pain.

Has anyone on the site ever thought about a more mobile friendly version of the site?
Possibility of activating Tapatalk perhaps?

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of equipment repairs being done by players. But I do think that the system is a little *too* punishing. I have taken up 3 crafts (weaving, alchemy and carpentry) and I am trying my best to keep them at or above the level of my Conjurer, so I can do many of my own repairs. My husband also plays and he's taken up armorer and blacksmith, so he can do some repairs too. We haven't joined an ls yet, and we don't really know anyone else in the game who can carry out the leather or goldsmithing repairs we need.
I really don't think they intend for every player to level up every craft; that's just insane... You simply couldn't do enough local leves to keep them close enough to your "player" level to be of any use. If you chose to craft at your own expense, you would have more stacks of useless parts than you could possibly store, and you'd burn through all your crystals and shards in the blink of an eye.
My complaint is this. Even if we *did* have friends in the game capable of doing all these repairs, I really would not want to bother them every day (or every few hours in some cases) to meet up with me somewhere in the world to fix my gear all the freaking time. I would of course be willing to pay them handsomely, but it seems so painful and annoying regardless.
Sometimes I spend an hour or so running around checking bazaars for repairs that I can do, but at the same time I have had the same copper wristlet in my bazaar for repair for a week and no one has touched it =( Maybe if they would add some Repair Wards to the Market Wards I'd be satisfied. Or when a player is only seeking repairs have it use a different icon than the bag it shows for bazaars?

Sorry I didn't mean for this to be a wall of text!

The concept of having to repair items isn't new and I can handle some say discomfort red plate comes to mind in wow it displays a small pic of your toon on screen with the failing piece in a color showing the degree of failure ground breaking lol. But having all the pieces of gear all needing different items to repair or crafts is the most clustered fed design in the history of mmo even if you could repair all your gear where the heck would you keep the mats???? The repair system on a whole concept, design, and implementation SE gets a fat juicy F = FAIL.

At least it makes me happy now when I play wow and pay gold for my high end plate gear to be repaired and not spend needless hours of my real life seeking repairs of low level gear repaired instead of enjoying the game I am spending good money to play........

So far not so good I keep playing but its painful as **** trying to give it benefit of the doubt that they can fix this game but many have just stopped logging in we just run end game again in FFXI having a blast. Oh well one more month free then decision time comes not looking good atm....

I basically got so frustrated with gear damage while crafting that I made a macro to strip down gear. Now I find that my undies degrade like 10x faster - Like 8 local leves today dropped it from 75% to 0% Then I find the /equip is broken and can't handle equipping two items with the same name. >_<

Then there's the marketplace that's.... still kinda broken. I mean I can find maybe find 1 character in 10 in the battlecraft ward with the right equipment. The rest seems to be people trying to sell marmot meat or walnuts. Of course the battlecraft ward is also to capacity so anyone with the right wares can't even hope to summon their retainer to vend and are forced to move to another promising ward. Something needs to be done to fix this I'm tired of finding walnuts when I'm looking for a weapons upgrade.

Is this game really done by SE or mostly outsourced to China like the Japanese think >.<
I think I've lost 10+ levequests due to client errors/crashing since starting 4 weeks ago.

Does anyone else think the server lag has gotten worse since the latest maintenance? The game was REALLY bad before the emergency maintenance but doesn't seem fully recovered. :/

retainer complaint

I accidently released my retainer from service while in the wards and lost all my crafting stuff and over 1 mil in gil. the system is garbage. If you release a retainer all the items and gil should either be put in your inventory or you should be able to get the retainer back from the desk where u got it from. almost want to quit due to this system and over a month of saving crafting matts.

I shall pose this complaint as a couple of questions:

Why has SE taken everything that they've done to make FFXI more enjoyable, then make XIV without any of those things?
And they messed with so many concepts that worked well for XI and would have been unique still if they have found a way to implement it with the new system of things.

Why can't there be an auction house?
Just because every other game has some form of an auction house does not mean that the idea is unoriginal. On the contrary, it has been found to be one of the most effective ways to trade in games. There are many aspects of games that I want to be refreshing and new. The auction house system, conceptually, is not one of them. Searching through bazaars in XI was like playing the lottery. Sometimes you found something, but most of the time you spent an hour gaining nothing. Now playing the lottery seems mandatory.

I just don't understand it. I spent 3 days when I first started playing XI just running around sandy talking to NPC's trying to find quests, and finish them. Why? because there were tons of them or the NPC's had little tidbits or stories or funny comments (the couple in north sandy by the smith guild who are on opposite tiers of the platform, both upset at the other for not being there. Made me lol.) Maybe it's the targeting scheme, but running around trying to talk to people always annoyed me in this game.

Let me put it simply. You spent several years learning what the gaming audience wanted from their MMO's. Teamwork, reputation, community, prestige, Epicness, etc. You went from this shining masterpiece of a hard core MMO, and then tossed us this steaming pile of ****. Everything but the graphics just seem half assed. No thought whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, This might be a great single player game. but I just don't understand how this is the same development team that did XI. teamplay mechanics are absolutely void. The game is full of insanely annoying redundancies. There are many people who defended you SE, and then you turned around and shat in their faces. I don't have time to waste on this game. There are much better things to do. Like sit here and type all this out.

I mean, what the I don't even....

I've never been one to mince words, so I'll make this as short and curt as possible.

I have not logged into XIV for weeks. I re-activated my XI account instead of playing XIV for free. When you have people who would rather pay to play an 8 year old, largely understaffed and highly demanding (time-wise) MMO rather than play a brand new one for free, something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

I know SE realizes there are issues with the game but from everything I've seen them say they seem to believe that the issues are mostly technical, that the only reason people are complaining is because of UI lag or excessive confirmation windows. And the little they have said about things people really want fixed is that they won't change them but will adjust them until they are satisfactory to the standards of SE.

I realize that any attempt I make to beg or plead with SE to improve their product in a timely and constructive manner will fall on deaf ears. I don't hope to prove a point and I'm not trying to make a stand. I'm not naive or vain enough to believe that I matter that much to SE as an individual player. I will still give SE money by means of my FFXI accounts and I will join XIV again if they ever resolve the issues to my satisfaction, but I will not pay a monthly fee to suffer through a game until it becomes enjoyable in 2 or 3 years.

I am very happy to see endless people agreeing that this is by far the worst MMO released within the last 10 years. I had writen a post before which stated that "Compared to ff11, ff14 is awfull, and I had many people defending this programming mess. I will not even call it a game, because games are fun.
The only good thing this mess did was make me more aware of other future MMO releases like Guildwars 2. Alot of people said that FF11 was this bad at release, I would REALLY have to see that to believe it. I have a lot of anger because I feel like i have been severly ripped off.
PS.. wouldn't it be easier to make a post having people list the good things about FF14, because the post would be reduced in size dramatically. Ok here goes the list of good things..1. graphics, 2, (?). end of list.

I really hope this game kills SquareEnix. They were already in financial trouble before they released this horrible grind fest. Stock prices are still dropping. This is what happens when you don't listen to costumer feedback or learn from old mistakes. Is it really "allowed" to **** out a **** like this after a decade of FFXI and WoW? FFXIV is soooo much a step backwards.

Die, and burn in righteous fire, you travesty of a software "developer".

It's a flat out chore to play this game, I've given it a chance, and the first month has not been even the slightest bit enjoyable. It still baffles me people are having fun based on the future possibility that this game can bring. It's ridiculous, this game COULD be good, I imagine it will be fun, so it must be fun!

It's simply not worth hanging around for future possibilities.

Seeing as how they're so bent on making this retainer system work, and do to many other disappointments with the game, I canceled my account today, I don't suspect i'll be resubscribing until they do many many things. The retainer system is just the worst of it...

I also have issues with the way every DoW class plays the same to me, the game isn't immersive past the initial, ooo pretty, factor. Effects wise, the game actually looks worse than FFXI, and runs much much worse. The towns outside are pointless and empty, the zones lack variety, the quests have 0 variety, arrows don't stack to a reasonable amount, you run through them very quickly.

Could go on and on, this entire game is beating a dead horse, so i'm done for now, i'll keep up with lodestone in case they decide to make the game good, like FFXI.

reading this thread gave me FAR more enjoyment than playing the game does. Thanks, and i agree on pretty much every single gripe.

Here is another one for the convoluted nightmare menuing system to do list:

When I want to take an item from loot and either drop it or put it in my bag put the discard button on the same page as the distribute button.

I want to distribute (click)
Do you wish to A. Distribute (Bag) or B. Discard
I want to distribute (click)

Oh, and I only need to confirm I wish to throw something away once. Discard -> Are you sure? -> History. (to be fair it only hammers you on the unique/untradeable items this way, but still annoying)

There is plenty of room on the initial menu in the loot box to move the discard button there. See. Easy. 1 click. everyone goes home happy. Or in my case a little less irritated.

Link please.

I know the numbers are extremely low for an MMO launch. I'm fairly certain Warhammer and AoC had more successful launches than FFXIV, and that's a **** tragedy. I just haven't seen anything that looks even remotely official (ie. from a reliable source) to indicate what those numbers might be.

And the subscription is still free. What's going to happen when they start charging money for it? SE fails.

*ESC key should be immediate, and for all menus. ESC key only works "most" of the time... why can't we make it all the time?

*When trading items with retainer, the data should be sent at the end of all transactions. Waiting 5 seconds after every item is very frustrating.

*Retainer item exchange and bazaar management should be in one window.

*It takes 10-20 seconds to change from class to class because of action/equipment macros changing one at a time.

*Seemingly cannot do any actions when the mob is doing a special attack? Jarring Strike keeps getting canceled due to mob doing a unnecessarily long attack animation.

*A limit on the amount of shouts that can be done a day. Also /block command should be reissued.

*More party-based content. Leve parties are a waste of time. Behest is like Garrison in FF11, where you spend twice as much time getting half as much exp/money you get than normal.

*Inflation is going to be a nightmare. Being able to get 1million in less than a week is ridiculous.

*Party searching feature is useless. The old one was much better.

*Next time, get game-testers that aren't yes-men and fanboys, but actually make the game playable.

The game testers were fine (us), SE just never fixed an overwhelming majority of the problems people had.

After playing this since CE release I must say I'm heavily disappointed like the rest of you. I looked forward to playing this game since it was first announced there would be another MMO next to XI. I will keep my post simple and to the point:

I think almost everyone can agree this game was released way too early for as many flaws as it does have. I would have preferred a release with the PS3 in March of 2011 instead of this garbage.

1) The retainer system
Good on paper, but it frankly irritates the heck out of me. You go to the market ward and have so many bodies having to load up just so you can see them... by the time I get to like the 20th person I'm like, "wait who did I all check again? o_o"
While I encourage SE to be creative and a little different I prefer just to have the Auction House back. They have already basically hand written an invitation to the Chinese players whom are the majority of RMT. The only way I can see this not turning into RMT like XI is if they ban it in China not to do this crap. But nevertheless, they were invited and I originally figured that the retainer thing was part of the whole "fix the RMT" solution. Please correct me if I'm wrong here but that was how I viewed it. Adding a search function I don't think is going to help matters for me. Selling is one thing but buying is another.

2) Partying/Interaction with other players
Okay... where is the party? No, seriously. I hate to refer to XI here but that had a good system. /sea all, /sea, looking for party flags. I am all for wanting the ability to solo but for me if I wanted to play solo 24/7 I would have bought a 1 player game not an MMO. :( This is by far the biggest complaint for me. I am a people person. I want to play with people, make some friends, have that easy option to put a flag up and solo as I am. My server is extremely silent and when you do ask for something in shout people do not respond.

Partying seems rare in this game and it makes me sad. :/ Functioning of a party no skillchains, no teamwork needed makes it blah feeling.

3) Chat customization, more options
Again, it seems as if SE took a step backwards here as well. We need more options such as changing colors of font, adjusting certain filters, maybe the color scheme of the box, number of lines displayed...the list goes on. Search function I have found almost useless so I'm not sure if I just don't know how to properly use it, or if it really is useless.

^ Solution: Implant XI's system and possibly update it even further.

4) UI and delays

This has been heavily discussed, not need to further discuss it as my opinion is very much the same.

5) Is it just me or... does it seem like a lot of people are just crafting? That kinda bugs me. If that was what I wanted to do in a video game I would want to be paid irl money for it haha. Some people do enjoy it and I'm happy for them but it seems more focused on you have to level crafts which is a little bit of a turn off for me.

I will say this much on their behalf, it seems like I am making money a lot easier but...

6) Where are the quests? lol
I want to have to walk around talk to townsfolk and have to do something for some rewards. It gives me something to do when none of my friends are online. :(

7) ANIMA recharge times are absurd.

Positive things:
* Behest
* Leves
* Storyline is developing so far so good
* Seems easier to make money

I'm sure I can list a lot more things but my point is too many things that just aren't finished. I think everyone can agree there. I liked FFXI, and I will stick around and see if this game develops into something better. For now though I'm getting very bored with it and I'm not even Physical level 20 yet. I will login a few hours and get sick of it. That's pretty bad considering I played FFXI for 10hrs straight and was still never tired of it lol. If no improvements by end of December I am either quitting or if there is an option to freeze the account I will until March to try again.

-----

My long time friend from FFXI had this to state about FFXIV:

"lol well what makes me mad is they took 11, updated graphics, kicked everything else in the balls back to beta 11, and then sucked all the fun outta it."

He also stated he misses our Mog Houses as he liked filling his with decorations. I'd have to say I miss my house as well.

Sorry just need to rant and get this off my chest, this seems like the best place to do it, even if no one reads it, at least i've said it.

I'm really trying to love the game but i think it's the little things they took away from us that has made this less interesting for me. They have made a beautiful game but unfortunatly graphics are not gonna keep me entertained.
The crafting system and the drop system have in my mind have pushed me away, everything is made from scratch, unless you get a guild leve with an armour drop, you pretty much have to rely on crafter's (killing mobs and getting a normal drop of its harvestable drop or a +1 +2 or a +3 is just an inventory killer, but probbably so SE can make more money from us with the release of purchacing new retainers).
The mage spells, i hate the way you automatically learn them, it seems a bit cheatish, you rank up and your spammed with all the spells you've learned, i liked the way on ffxi you'd either go hunt for a new spell scroll or purchace one, yeah yeah its to stop manopolizing of the prices, but it made you work for your goal, here you turn level 10 and you pull phalanx out of the twelves asses (can't remember what level phalanx is).

Leves, Quests & Scenario's OH MY

This i think is the problem for me, the leves are too **** boring, there's no variation, even the faction leves are exactly the same, just mixed around with a behest style, there is nothing that grasps you, even getting them is annoying and that's what scares me, FFIV is Guildleve Oriantated, Just look at the opening movie its like a ground hog day, you pick the same ones you had the day before, go out and do them (even in a group i feel bad sometimes for the others and don't attack because they go down fast, even on the hardest, so i sacrifice my SP gain for so the others can gain from it). there is just no reward feel to them,

Quests, hmm yeah.... talk to the same NPC then enter an instance (lazy mans way of not having to code different text into different NPC's IMO) i hate these instances, i don't think theres any need in them, a cutscene can show me whats gone on, without the couple of mins to load the 1st NPC to then see a small Cutscene to enter an instance, to wait a couple of min for all the NPC's to load again and be stuck in a ring where if i leave i have to start with the 1st NPC again, to only during this instance either talk with the Same NPC again, or the one thats is standing right next to him, to see another short cutscene and be back where i started or where ever the NPC said for me to go with them, you don't need an instance for a cutscene.

Main scenario, these are too short to keep me entertained, and to far apart (in the current climate of the game) 5 ranks in this game may aswell be 20 to any other MMO i need like 22k SP in this game at rank 20 and only like 40k exp in ffxi for level 80, problem is FFXI exp is easier to get.

My Complaints:

1. To have items fixed, you need to take down items for sell from the bazzar and put the damaged items to the bazzar then put the items back to bazzar once items are repaired.

2. To exchange items with retainer.. it takes roughly 7 sec to complete "One" transaction.

3. Can't "Mail" items to other player.

4. Only 4 items can be traded with other player.

5. No /assist, No party select...

6. Random SP gain...

7. It takes long time to equip Action to action bar.

8. Item durability can only be seen in inventory, it can't be queried during equipment stage.

Overall, it's design flaw. It's very inconvenient, very annoying.
I try to hypnotize myself that I still in love with FF14......... but I just can't if I need to deal with those issues daily.
Hope I am not asking too much. Back to 15 years ago, UO can do better UI then this. (except auto target)

I just logged on after a week of non-play and...

I take a look at the server numbers (Kashuan, which was low pop anyway) and it's down from ~1500 to 800!

Plus it was really laggy.

It really bummed me out.

Consider me canceled. :(

While shoving your repair system up your a$$ (please see earlier posting) please include the insane mob heal rate and TP move spamming that anything that's on the top end of blue on up to red seems to be blessed with.

Oh ya, and if I miss it 7 times in a row and then land 2 shots, seems to me that would warrant a skill-up.

Tick Tock SE. Tick Tock.

Your complaints are so good I'll just add to them.

theredchaser wrote:

I love how when you're done talking to the Repair NPC, by pressing Esc, she always says one more thing and you HAVE to press Enter to get out of it. ESC doesn't work. GENIUS SE!

Quote:

At least SE is consistent. Its a 3-5 second delay to open your Inventory, after you click Synthesize, to view your Equipment, sometimes even after you press a button to attack..... pretty much anything that has something you click on has a major delay attached to it. Another GENIUS MOVE!

Quote:
*Retainer item exchange and bazaar management should be in one window.

I'm going to see your one window Retainer management suggestion and raise you a Retainer accessible wherever suggestion! Seriously, how does it make any sense that you can't call your Retainer while they are in the wards. I mean is your retainer retarded? They must be that they don't know where to go back to apparently - just stuck in the Wards. Also GENIUS move is to have retainers all reset after any maintenance. Good one SE!!!

Quote:
*It takes 10-20 seconds to change from class to class because of action/equipment macros changing one at a time.

LOL I think you're being a bit generous here. Let's try 20-30 seconds.

Quote:
*Seemingly cannot do any actions when the mob is doing a special attack? Jarring Strike keeps getting canceled due to mob doing a unnecessarily long attack animation.

Haven't seen this one, but I do see inexplicable delays/lag during combat that cause any number of issues like your action bar being fully depleted or attacks not registering or firing correctly. Its totally random.

Quote:
*A limit on the amount of shouts that can be done a day. Also /block command should be reissued.

This one is so absurd, I almost thought you were making it up. Really? A limit on shouts? I mean for real? That really exists? It makes me want to try it out.... If its true that is just so completely lame... I don't even know where to start.

Quote:
*More party-based content. Leve parties are a waste of time. Behest is like Garrison in FF11, where you spend twice as much time getting half as much exp/money you get than normal.

That's the way I find Leves usually. They are a complete waste of time. Running to some crystal to do 5 synths most of which fail, I mean I can just stay in my City and do 20 synths in the same time and make double SP. I rarely do them.

Quote:
*Inflation is going to be a nightmare. Being able to get 1million in less than a week is ridiculous.

The big numbers in this game confound me. You're completely right. Gil just pretty much rains from the sky which is nice but at the same time very frightening because you're going to see 500 mil items soon.

Quote:
*Party searching feature is useless. The old one was much better.

I wouldn't even call what they have now search. Its like ghetto-search. Its like let's take all the good search features from FFXI and flush them down the toilet... what's left we'll put in FFXIV.

Quote:
*Next time, get game-testers that aren't yes-men and fanboys, but actually make the game playable.

Let's get serious. I've said this before but it's worth repeating. Just think about how many of these complaints are because SE is trying to stop RMT and bots....

No AH, crappy bazaars, crappy retainers, fatigue, UI delay, Big numbers, crappy search, no DBOX, low anima, slow everything, leve limits, shout limits, these were ALL implemented because of SE's philosophy to make this game as RMT-free as possible. But they forgot that the game should also be playable and fun.

They are destroying the game to maintain this so call philosophy against the gil-sellers. And its almost too late - they've ruined FFXIV and I'm not sure there's any going back.

Doubt RMT counter measures are the factor that decides implementation of features. Ultimately, the game lacks so much from FFXI becuase they wanted to create a game that did not compete with it at all, ironically that success has lead to the games failure.

I do remember reading an interview saying they fully intend players to play FFXI along side with FFXIV and not feel like FFXIV is the successor of the franchise.

Yeah, I've read that thread but it's like the only biggie is no AH and no one knows if the decision on the removal AH is based on RMT counter measures, maybe they just didn't want an AH; seeing as how they are big on breaking trends and ruining things on purpose.

From my perspective, I see them being greedy by trying their hardest not to compete with FFXI playerbase and making people play both. Maybe those gameplay factors you consider RMT counter measures are just things implemented to deliberately slow progress; because to me that is exactly what they feel like.

I find myself thinking a lot, why isn't this feature like it was in FFXI, why does it seem like they tried to turn that feature on its head, this would be much more enjoyable if it were like FFXI and so on.
The conclusion I draw from these thoughts leads me to believe they just tried really hard to make it not like FFXI for some reason or other. Does not seem to me that SE are fighting the hard fight against RMT and we are collateral damage.

Here's a complaint for you. Doing a level 20 leve, me 15 CON duoing with a 20 GLA, took us 15 minutes to complete (one of those with the footpads). I was nuking, curing, stoneskinning. I got : 20 SP. Twenty. On my levequest. What's the point of forming parties to do levequests for that sort of "reward"?

Going to give the complaining about the game a break for now, instead I want to adress a little pet peeve of mine, and many others about the people that are palying. This is something I have noticed in all the online games I play, but for some reason seems way more prevelant in FFXI and FFXIV. People that don't know how to pronounce words. Some from FFXI and some From FFXIV, and any other general term used in games.

1) Melee [mey-ley] Stop saying "Me Lee"

2) Pugilist [Pyoo-juh-list] It Isn't "poo guh list"

3) Phalanx [Fey-langks] I have actually heard several people say "P-hal-in-ex"

4) Paladin [Pal-uh-din] Not "pala-dine"

5) Haubergeon [Haw-ber-juhn] This one is an understandable mistake

*tongue-in-cheek*
