So I noticed that while weaving today I took equipment damage..
If your not using the item to synth, why would or should it take damage? I mean I see no reason for my headslot/rings/earrings or shoes to take duribility damage in this case...

All those slots (especially head) have the potential to have +crafting stats on them, so it's only natural that they'd be susceptible to damage. Don't think about the realism aspect too hard, otherwise you start questioning things like how we can teleport across the world in the blink of an eye.

Interesting... Mine do not seem to support any craft, rather they seem to support my defense when I am fighting mobs. As for teleporting feature I see no problem with it since at level 20 we do not have chocobos!

This is nothing new. A lot of gear gives control, craftsmanship, etc. bonuses. If the gear doesn't give any crafting bonus, take it off.

Annoying, yes.. Ridiculous? Kinda...
