I just called Support because PlayOnline reported my FFXI Free Trial period ending as of midnight 12.5 hours ago. When I go today to create a FFXIV character on any world I do not get the shoes.
I bought FFXI on Sept 11, and according a PlayOnline notification, the free trial expired Oct 10 at end of day midnight. I linked the POL ID to my FFXIV beta account on Sept 11. I bought the Standard edition FFXIV on Sept 30 and linked the serial to my beta FFXIV account which also has Asuran Armguards and Garlond Goggles (which are so much more useful than Onion Helm since they both apparently only last until class level 10).
I called SE Support who told me "you have to wait until the next billing cycle, Nov 1". Though he did not sound convincing. The exception from their website below indicates only "my free trial period is over", and was stated by a notification when I logged in PlayOnline, so I should not have to wait until Nov 1. Waiting till the next cycle would be an additional exception they did not list!
I told him I deleted my character trying to recreate for the shoes, and they won't restore it, as "there is no restoration service for FFXIV". I deleted it for nothing and had 45 levels done. I can't even create a new character on Besaid where my mule has stashed 600k I made in 10 days that I was smart enough to figure out how to move off with their broke *** mule system (hint, if you offer to Buy an item in your bazaar to move money, there is no 5/10% fee).
The support guy then insults me saying Hermes Shoes was intended for players who have been playing FFXI a long time. I promptly told him I played FFXI for 2 years, to kindly update the inaccurate information on the website below, thank you and goodbye.
* Please note that you will not be able to receive a special in-game item in the following cases:
- If you have created a character before linking your PlayOnline ID (It is, however, possible to receive the in-game item by deleting the characters you created, linking your PlayOnline ID, and then re-creating your characters).
- If, at the time of creating your FINAL FANTASY XIV character, the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI Content IDs are invalid (the Content IDs have been cancelled and are thus not being billed).
- If the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI is in the free trial period.
Maybe if I wait another day or two it will register, as others who freshly reactivated a *non-trial* FFXI account had to wait for it to register?? Anyone else in the same boat? I've already gone to so much trouble I could nearly care less at this point if they would just open the GD Besaid server and let me start over without the shoes.
