This is a nice read for everyone.

You know at first I thought what I read was a good thing and SE was attempting to move in the right direction then I found another interview and now I just think its fluff.

I will hope for the best but am expecting the same old sh*t form SE.

This may have already been posted but thought it added some nice info http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/11066-gamescom-2010-coverage/

And the complaints about the game are not falling upon deaf ears. The number one complaint that the team has heard is about the user interface, and that is the current top priority for the team. Performance-smoothing is next on the list, followed by content and new features. Each team is working on the game to improve it, and every piece of feedback is being compiled worldwide and taken into account for development.

The only thing really worth seeing. Everything is SE's typical "We can't discuss that" bs.

So, they're happy they released an un-finished game (with potential greatness) and will get to the rest later.

Great.

...we hear a lot of good opinions on the UI (user interface) and other features.

"good opinions," that's certainly one way to put it.

We had a lot of people signed up to write daily journals of their adventures here on FinalFantasy14Players, but the minimal specs on the PC version are quite high. You know, most college students have laptops which can’t have their video card upgraded. What was the reasoning for such a high system requirement?

Yasu: We have a PS3 version coming out and the PC version needed to match the PS3 abilities. When we designed this game, we were looking at what the standard PC abilities were in five years. Each year, PCs will have better and better graphics and processing capabilities. Right now the specs seem high but in 2-3 years it shouldn’t be.

So what you are telling me that my $3300 computer is not as powerful as my $400 dollar PS3? And I might add they apparently don't want the average PC owner to play FFXIV for 2-3 years after release, until what is powerful now is mid grade?

/shrug

Everytime SE staff opens their mouth an angel loses it's wings and I get a fargin migraine.

Sundi and Kurosawa both mentioned that while they want to improve the interface on the PC, they also need to make sure that the interface works for both PCs and the PS3, which means that there are limited options for how many changes they can make. Balancing the needs of both systems leads to certain compromises.

I will be honest i did a spit take,
and immediately though

I'm suuuuuure it would be sooooo horrible for them to have different interface options for pc and ps3. That would just be impossible.

Good to hear I agree, but I'll sit and wait for results to start rolling out. For the moment they aren't the kind of developers that I can just take their word on.
